STAR WARS Fan Created Material For Games That Aren't Star Wars

In celebration of tonight's Star Wars: The Force Awakens release, I've put together a list of Star Wars themed fan RPG material. By that, I don't mean fan created content for official Star Wars games (folks make that all the year round!) but rather Star Wars inspired stuff that people have created for other games. • Tribality has a home-brew Jedi - it's a D&D 5E monk archetype called Path of the Jedi.
• Also for 5E, NovaSeven designed a Force Adept and a 10-page Star Wars Next Basic Rules PDF.
• I created Luke's Lightsaber for my WOIN system.
• Cypher System fans will enjoy Cypher System Awakens and Villainous Scum - Star Wars Across Two Systems over at Living4Crits.
• There's also Star Wars in Numenera by Ryan Chaddock. Update -- these have been updated since to Star Wars for Cypher Part 1 - The Force, Part 2 - Scum & Villainy, Part 3 - Galactic Conflict, and Part 4 - Aliens & Droids.

• Star Wars World is a fan-created RPG system based on the Apocalypse World engine.

The current official Star Wars roleplaying game is, of course, Fantasy Flight Games' Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny series of games. Popular past Star Wars RPGs include WotC's 2007 Star Wars Saga edition, and the West End Games d6 version from the 1980s-1990s.

What is the story on those 3 different titles in FFG? Are they covering different time periods in the canonical history? Same game system otherwise?

All three titles are set in the Rebellion era and are stand-alone system books. The Edge of the Empire book focuses more on character archetypes and stories set in the Outer Rim that might not directly deal with the Empire, the Age of Rebellion features character archetypes that are more directly opposed to the Empire, and the Force and Destiny book contains lots of Force-using archetypes (the other two books contain only limited Force-using archetypes).

It's the same system (and there's a fair amount of duplication of material in each book as a result), and very similar mechanically to the FFG Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying game, if you've seen or played that one.

For anyone that likes story-telling, narrative play, improvisation and very flexible character development, I recommend the FFG star wars systems. The system is quite heavy-weight but I think it's very rewarding if the group of players can all get into it.

There was an unofficial 47-page RQ Star Wars rules-supplement PDF produced by the authors of RuneQuest 6th edition, Pete Nash and Lawrence Whitaker, to demonstrate how you could adapt a setting to that edition. I don't have a link, because the document was taken down, but I'm sure there are still copies floating around online.

I like the idea of using other systems for the Star Wars setting.
Too bad a lot of folks give the lightsaber super powers. I personally think it's just an oddball weapon that Jedi like, and most (not all) of it's capabilities are due to the wielder, not the weapon.
(Of course, fanboyism often makes homebrew Katanas in games hit like a freaking melee version of antitank weapons, which is also insane, so anytime a weapon has larger than average stats, you really have to think twice about it. Was the weapon really that totally awesome, or maybe it had something to do with the protagonist/antagonist using it.)
