Star Wars Saga/D&D 5th Hybrid [OOC/Rolls]

The Armor Bonus replaces your Heroic Class Proficiency bonus or basically (Level)/4 (round down) +1. So for 6th level characters your Heroic Class Proficiency bonus is +3. If you are wearing armor you don't get to add that to your Reflex Defense.

The reason why I worded it this way was that is that non-Heroic characters don't get this bonus but they can multi-class into a Heroic class later, much like Targo. Right now his heroic bonus is only +2 where his Proficiency bonus is +3. Maybe I could word it better or say "only your Heroic class level proficiency" but I thought that this might be more confusing also...

For Multi-Classing you take the HIGHEST Class Defense Bonuses (i.e. if you are a Scout and a Bounty Hunter your Reflex Class Defense Bonus is +4 not +6).

I am not going to change it but I have been debating some way to make armor less attractive as it normally is in Star Wars. But games like the new FFG Star Wars ones and the old WEG game and even the first versions of Star Wars D20 have all made armor pretty effective. The only system were it was not was Saga...

For Jihahna's Defenses they would be the following...

1) Fortitude 10 + heroic bonus +3 soldier class bonus +2 armor bonus +2 constitution bonus +2 = 19
2) Reflex 10 + armor bonus +4 scout class bonus +2 dexterity bonus +3 =19
3) Will 10 + heroic bonus +3 jedi class +1 wisdom bonus +1 = 15

Re the gand's recent IC post, the idea would be to bypass the battle droids' brains and remote-control one/both of their bodies from the slicer kit, probably at the end of a brace of connecting cables or something? (Star wars doesn't seem too big on wireless :)) Would this be possible, GK?

Hmm that is an interesting idea but you guys blasted them pretty good. Jihahna might be able to fix one of them up by cobbling together pieces of from both, then make a slicer roll. It would take some time though... being Star Wars maybe an hour or so (if you jury-rigged it)

Yea to remove the Sniper rifle's scope you are going to need more then an hour and probably a shop (like on your transport). I can see it also having higher damage dice (3d10 instead of 3d8) but having less shorts... maybe 20

Agreed on the reduction in ammo. I think I would jack up the damage significantly. Maybe even up to 4d8 or 4d10, but only because I would add the Loading trait from 5E to it, maybe saying it takes time for the weapon to charge up to deliver such a powerful bolt. That would mean it would be not only incompatible with autofire, but also any feats/talents/maneuvers that call for expending more than one round of ammunition per turn (Double Attack/Triple Attack/Double Tap/Etc). I might even add on that any attack on a target within 30' is at disadvantage, given the nature of the weapon.

It's a cool idea, but I'm not sure if we have the time to do it? Unless Jihahna could have been working on it during our hour break.

Hmm I don't want to make them too over to board good though. Right now my feelings about them should have the following write up (for the first page)...

Blaster rifle, Sniper
: COST 1,500cr, DMG 3d10 energy, WT. 6kg, PROPERTIES Military. Ammo (range 60/600), heavy, reload (30 powercell), sniper scope*, stun setting, two-handed.

*This electronic sniper scope is mounted for the sniper blaster rifle. With the "aim" maneuver shots out to 600m are not at disadvantage and the weapon's range is extends to 1,200m (601-1,200m is at disadvantage).

Which is basically the Heavy Blaster Rifle but without autofire and with the sniper scope

I don't think she could be working on it if she wanted to take the Long Break affects. If she only wants to take the Short Rest she could do it (she would not get any Hit Dice back, she did not use her Second Wind so she is good there, etc.)

Are there a lot of instances of multi-class heroic/non-heroic characters? I think Targo is the only one I remember. If I were doing it, I think I would have it that you are one or the other. If you convert from a non-heroic character to a heroic character, I think I would just convert them, maybe at a 1/3 Round Up rate? So a 4th level non-heroic character would convert to a 2nd level heroic character, with all the benefits (Triple Max HP at 1st level, etc). One of the problems Targo has is very low HPs due to starting out as a non-heroic character; I was really worried about him surviving the fight, to be honest. The added benefit is you could call the Defense Bonus a proficiency bonus, but state that only Heroic characters get to add it to their Defense bonuses.

Well you have not run into a lot yet but you will. Its mostly when you start faces tougher Minions as it were. Hmm let me think about your thoughts here a bit...

How about worded like this...

Defense Scores: instead of Saves, I am still using the Defensive Scores from Saga, except now they are determined as follows: 10+ (Heroic Classes Proficiency bonus*) + Class Bonuses (use the highest class bonus if Multiclass) + Attribute Modifier. Note that for Reflex Defense Bonus, if you are wearing Armor you use the Armor Reflex Score (ARS), not your Heroic Classes Proficiency bonus. Also using D&D 4th ed. Save Throw ideas - Fortitude Defense use the best of Strength or Constitution modifier, Reflex Defense use the best of your Dexterity or Intelligence modifier, and Will Defense use the best of your Wisdom or Charisma modifier.

*What this means is that Non-Heroic/Heroic multiclass characters only count their Heroic class levels for what their proficiency bonus is (i.e. a Non-Heroic 4/Jedi 2 would have a proficiency bonus of +3 but their heroic proficiency bonus would only count as level 2 for Defense score bonuses, so only +2).
