For this Gand's info, s/he can start going through on the way back to Footfall. I would say that as the Infinity Gate was shutting down s/he gather its sort of 'last-thoughts'. S/he gathered the the gate's AI has been seriously corrupted and was acting something like a droid that had developed a insane personality. S/he captured the data as it was shutting off on how the gate interacted with other stars to open the gate but also on how to cause a star to supernova. S/he quickly learns that if this data was to get out, that there are those who would stop at nothing to finding the Infinity Gate and using it to destroy their enemies star systems...

Ahhhh, the Gand slicer in the republic commando storyline of SWTOR was a computers expert, but his technique was all mystical and spiritual.

You go around recruiting the best of the best and he's meant to be an elite Republic slicer/security expert I think, but his methods strongly hint at him using the force with the machines kind of like a 40k Tech Priest.

Sounds cool. Would explain the 'crazy' moment the Gand experienced.

If true, that has interesting implications for the very definition of 'The Force,' which was always defined as a kind of shared universal life force...which is why droids and other machine intelligences can't access it, or be affected by it.

But perhaps there is another way of looking at/using the Force that doesn't have that limitation.

Maybe s/he would be using the Force to supplement her/his own insight and abilities, rather than directly interacting with the devices. I do recall that the Force can't really interact with droids and machines, other than abilities that affect the physical world, like telekinetic abilities and such.

And yet the Force can create and react to energy...via Force Lightning, Negate Energy, and similar abilities.

One might speculate that someone with great finesse in the power to detect and manipulate electrical energy could potentially learn to sense the electrical activity in a droid or machine intelligence...and learn how to 'interpret' those signals, and 'send' those signals via the Force, to interface with that mind.

It wouldn't be the same kind of ability that the Force can have on living minds of course. A different principle entirely, and probably much more difficult...but I can see the potential for a non-canon-violating explanation of that sort of ability.

Anakin Solo had a similar ability, in that he could understand the complexities of machinery, and make repairs using the force, even at an age as young as 7.

True, but I always figured that was more like him drawing intuitive expertise through the Force...using it to gain knowledge via mystical connection to other beings. He couldn't mentally interface with electronic devices through the Force. :)

:D all good theories but also remember there were a bunch of crystals that had long dead Rakata Dark Force Masters inside them AND that they had corrupted the Infinity Gate in some way... it could be possible that the Kwa had imparted some ancient 'Way' (the Force) user into it...

But then I am also a HUGE fan of WH40K so corrupted machine spirits are sooo cool
