Star Wars Saga/D&D 5th Hybrid [OOC/Rolls]

Re the perfect custom carbine, I'm now thinking that would include +1 tohit, grav unipod (no disadv when firing prone) and a quick-extend folding stock (Extend and retract stock as a free action (if succeed at a Dex check?)).

Whether he/she can get all that 1. at all and 2. all at once, I wouldn't know... GK?

I say she could do that but it would probably be 2-3 days for each one, so around a week of time and 3 rolls

Is there a disadvantage when firing prone? I thought it was a disadvantage when firing at a prone target from further than 5' away.

Corrected below.

Yes you are right... maybe he meant something else and I was just not thinking about it... so there are two modifications listed so far...

Actually, I must be thinking of a different game. Checking the SRD, Prone seems to apply disadvantage to all attack rolls made by the prone individual. Seems a little odd for shooting (since prone firing is generally how the military is trained to shoot a rifle, at least back in the day), but I didn't find an exception at a quick glance. Kind of makes sense though as far as rules complexity in D&D, it would pretty much only apply to crossbows as firing a bow prone would probably be pretty challenging.

My bad!

The disadvantage from being prone with ranged attacks doesn't apply to crossbows, which are held more like a modern rifle. I assume by implication it probably wouldn't apply to rifles either.

In contrast, firing a bow from a prone position is very awkward and requires you to hold the bow sideways, which isn't really ideal. Hence disadvantage. :)

Is that in 5E, Shayuri? After checking my facts, I think there is a rule in 3.5 or Pathfinder where crossbows don't suffer the -4 to attack that bows do from firing prone, but I didn't immediately see anything in the 5E SRD.

Hmm under Conditions it does say 'Disadvantage on attack rolls." with no distinction for crossbows or bows. I don't think I was imposing disadvantage to anyone when they were firing prone sooo I think I will add that to the houserule.

Condition Update.
"You are not at disadvantage when making a ranged attack with a rifle (or crossbow) when prone."

I do vaguely fear that we'll fall into a system where everyone is going to be firing at everyone else with disadvantage. Then again, we sort of had that already with folks popping up to shoot and then dropping prone without much in the way of negative consequence, short of not being able to take the Aim action.
