Star Wars Saga/D&D 5th Hybrid [OOC/Rolls]

what goal he/she might have to gain an individual name and identity?
Well he/she is on an "ancient tech artifact" recovery quest, so significant advances on that front would easily qualify.

In the absolute, I'm imagining the gaining of a name for a gand of his/her variety involves becoming something that the gand community considers worthy of being protected/preserved, whether it's a level of skill, knowledge, service rendered or a combination thereof (i.e. something that would make loosing *this* particular gand a greater loss than loosing any one of the multitude of Nameless gands). The degree of "uniqueness"/importance of a gand to its species as a whole being rated by the number of names he/she has, while the names themselves might encapsulate what that uniqueness is... Makes sense?

I hadn't really decided. I don't want to cause trouble for the group, but if we just leave without his starfighter, that's a potentially serious loss. What does everyone else think?

I have to look up plotting a course with a hyperdrive when I get home and can look at my Saga book but I know it is going to be a mix of that and using the Tools (Navcomp). Note of course that C4 has that skill set and he can. He has a hyperspace link too Corstris so that he only needs a 10 on his skill roll...

Star Wars Saga/D&D 5th Hybrid [OOC/Rolls]

Ugh. Sorry for the delay. I guess we've all been busy. I've still been working on my AGD project though.

Below is a rant with links to 3 music prices I was thinking of for AGD if anyone has an opinion on it?

[sblock=Study progress/rant/head scratch]

Trying to get a non-Industry standard animation software though (Poser) to talk with Maya is a pain. To be fair, Maya is not the main modelling software I've been learning. It's been Cinema 4D, because that's what my teachers know.

But i'm at a bit of an impasse at the moment really, where I can't smoothly progress with this project until I learn Maya now.

I've got the entire 'pipeline' set out. That is, I've had to do a LOT of testing, working out how I can get figures from one software to the other, but I've found a way now... I think.

Poser tutorials for importing models over are few and far between too.

One thing that's been weighing heavily on my mind is an internal debate as to music for an AGD opening.

I have had friends suggest I stick to using the classic Star Wars music, but in trying to pull off an anime 'feel', I think I need to step away from it, which they also understand.... What do you guys think?

Every few days for the last few months, I've been combing through free and pay-for-use royalty free music. I've tried looking for star-wars remixes that might sound more anime-ish, plus I've found a couple of anime style openings that sound like they have enough action to them....

This project is my new obsession. I've never been truly motivated about anything until this. I completely quit video-games and deleted my social media profiles about 3 months ago all to free up my time. Apparently not the craziest of behaviours of animators... Dare I hope to become one someday...

These are probably my top 3 songs. 2 are anime, one is more 'mass effect'-like. I'm a little disappointed I couldn't find more out there. Maybe I'm not looking at the right locations, I don't know.... Either way:

-Kanshou Resistance -

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YeYIQVdLieU

Price-wise - Completely free - Chorus hits just after 50 seconds.

The chorus is the main reason I like this song. The lyrics are dark, though sound a little funny in English. Lyrics translate from Japanese to:

"I wonder why she dies for reasonable reasons
Do all lives have meaning?
I can not break it out
Draw your will with instructions
Where did you make a mistake? What did you know?
Also the tragedy is repeated
Exposing the scratch that can not be written to anyone"

I've been chewing on this one for months as a possibility.

'Battle red, yellow green' from Nash Music Library:
Will cost a US $21.

Found it today. Has more of a 90's anime sound to it? I don't mind it.

Then from premiumbeat.com:

Will cost an Aus $49. Found it a few weeks back.

Everything else is sorted though I think... Need more Maya know-how and I'm set.... I think.

Of the three, the first one's my fav for an opening (maybe cut out the first 10-20 seconds and get right into the action? Depends on the pacing of your visuals. The constant cymbals are a bit distracting though (sound too much like static, I think). Any way to cut those out?). Otherwise very nice.

Not too hot on the second one. Drop it.

Like the last one too, maybe as intro music to a Star-Wars-y "things as they are now" segment or theme-music for the bad guys/challenges ahead?

I forgot there was another file format you can download this song in and had a hunch that I should look it up in the event that it's lossless. It's called .ogg format.

According to wikipedia, it's a multi-stream lossless format, so, yeah wow, it may be entirely modifiable... The owner gave permission for editing too. To top all of this off, I even think I understood all the stuff I just said....

The long buildup was something I was unsure about! Ok, I'll try and sort out something, though I'll need to extend the chorus, maybe repeat from that 50ish second mark again if I can do a smooth repeat. That's not too hard.

Will drop the second one.

Doing a starting segment in addition to an anime style opening, I've wondered about the possibility. I'll let the thought stew. Music I've liked for this I come back to periodically when I get storyboarding ideas.

Finally, regarding the visuals, honestly, I'm of the mindset that if I can find, modify or enhance a piece of music that's 'just right', then I'll create the visuals based around the music, not the other way around. Even if it involves Lots of short shots mixed in, I enjoy timing shots to the music. That aside too, if I get to a point with plenty of time to spare, I'll be sure to start with drafts for feedback purposes.

Spoke to my teachers today, so the next step is to learn a little Maya and to experiment further with getting stock non-Poser clothes into Poser, apply and weight correctly.

If I can do that and just modify facial proportions of .mmd models (those that are allowed to be edited), then I'll have everything I need in another, 2 months maybe? Then I'll have 4 months to animate.

If I want to get really detailed, no, wait, I mean, if I want to make things easier when the modelling phase hits, I probably need to get a basic turnaround of each character made up, based around their current art. Of course, testing with stock stuff comes first... Just testing compatibility is a big job.

Anyway, that's my new rant done.... Thanks for the feedback! [/sblock]

Sorry for my distractions, update tomorrow. Partly I wanted to make sure what everyone was doing before we make the jump to hyperspace AND/OR someone does something sneaky ;)
