Star Wars Saga Edition [SECR] Preview #6 is Up

From the other previews it seems that at 1st level you get a certain number of "class skills." You can choose to be trained in so many of your class skills.

If you multi class, you will have access to more class skills, but that in itself does nothing. However, there is a training feat you can take that will let you become trained in any one class skill. So while multiclassing gives you wider access to trained skills, you would have no more trained skills then a straight class character could have.

Well that is good to hear, and I certainly hope you are right. I like the idea of spending a feat to get a trained skill.

Hmmm, I wonder, can you take a Skill Focus in a skill you are not trained in? I be there is going to be a prereq for Skill Focus that says:

SKILL FOCUS
Prereq: Trained Skill
Benefit: Chose one skill you are trained in. You gain a +5 bonus to that trained skill.

Or something like that :)

Anyone else find it a bit strange that the droideka has a better grapple check than it does ranged attack check? If their grapple is so much better, why haven't we seen them grapple in Ep I - III??? LOL
Not really; it's just a side-effect of being large-size: -1 on attack rolls, +5 on grapple checks.

Nope. Grappling is pretty lethal to the grappler/attacker, in real life and in the game rules. This goes double if your opponent has a lightsaber!

Big soldiers should probably use machine guns or grenade launchers unless they can sneak up on someone.

also, droideka are pretty slow in their unpacked form, they couldn't get close enough to grapple. And with that impressive blaster damage, why would they!!

This is correct and confirmed.

Skill Focus does indeed have trained as a prerequiste.

All of this stuff has been set out in the previews released so far.

But that is my point. The attack roll for their "impressive" blaster is lower than their grapple check. So wouldn't it be more accurate to say their grapple in impressive? I know the reason why, I just think it looks funny on paper.

he said impressive blaster damage

going burst the can do 5d8, compare that to their 1d4+3 unarmed (iirc, thats the damage you can do in a grapple).

also, can it use its shield while in grapple? if not then its better of standing some distance away and blasting the hell out of everything ;)

btw, the shield is listed as "SR", im guessing its a typo for "DR" :D

or maybe its "shield rating"? i see they also use SR further up...

SR is shield rating, and it's explained in one of the previews. That SR 20 makes the drodeka one mean customer.
