Star Wars Saga RPG: Square Book? WTF

whats the word count per page compared to the older style books?
I don't have any exact numbers, but between the smaller font, less redundancy in the rules, and less overall wasted space per page, it's probably comparable to the RCR.

Which of course means that if they had made it proper size, they could have packed more goodness inside. In fact, if each page has the same information densidty that the RCR had, then going with a full size bok would have made it the equivelent of a book with 313.04 pages. That 25+ pages would have allowed the inclusion of several more races, several more starships, and most importantly, rules for getting from point "A" to point "B" in the galaxy.

I mean seriously, how can I run a game with out Miraluka , Lepi or Kushiban racial stats?

I don't know if this has been asked or answered yet but is there any indication that the "interesting" design of the saga edition will be used for all future Star Wars RPG books?

I'm going to make a guess based on nothing really, but I'd have to say yeah, they'll probably be the same, if for no other reason than to keep uniformity within the series.

I hope they continue, one book would just look odd, a series stacked together looks better. Also it fits in the Miniatures game starter box along with the floor plans.

I remember seeing a post from one of the authors/designers (don't recall which one specifically), but all future Saga Edition sourcebooks are planned to use the square-book design.

The only thing I would have liked to see more of were starships, namely notables such as the Falcon and the Firespray/Slave I. Hyperspace travel times has always been a function of the story in the movies, with ships moving at the speed of plot, so the grossly simplified version in the SECR suits my GM needs just fine. As for races, there's enough to be getting on with.

Yeah, that seems to be one of the major complaints about the book: not enough equipment/stuff. I definitely found the starship chapter lacking in terms of example craft. I think I could create a lot of the ships if necessary, but that would get a little time-consuming.

As a side note, I was going through the star wars wiki the other day. Apparently, there are now 7,843 versions of the Star Destroyer now. Back in my day, we had three: the Victory, Imperial, and Super, and we liked it. :)
