Star Wars + Stargate = Gate Wars

Just an idea I had... I'm personally looking for Stargate with Star Wars elements, so I'd ditch a lot of the SW baggage like droids.

The main thing I'm interested in is turning the higher-ranking Jaffa warriors into jedi knights, and give them lightsabers instead of (maybe in addition to?) staff weapons. Not sure what I'd call them... Might just call them, for example, Serpent Jedi and Horus Jedi (as opposed to Serpent Guards and Horus Guards).

Of course, you could go even further or even the opposite direction, Star Wars with hints of SG. Goa'uld make an excellent substitute for the Sith, perfectly able to blend in and scheme. Maybe even make regular jedi into Tok'ra.

Hell, ya know, we still don't know what the Furlings are... Who says they're not Ewoks?

I've actually got it...

What prompted me to this line of thinking, though, was my desire to run a Star Gate game combined with my desire to use the Star Wars Saga rules, with a minimum of conversion.

I haven't actually read the SG-1 rulebook that much, just skimmed it (and I've never looked at Spycraft), so I don't know much about the system except that it's d20-based.

It sounded intriguing... but then you opted to discard droids. Since droids are the best part of the Star Wars universe then I declaim your unholy fusion of different sci-fi genres as it is clearly doomed to fail without mechanical brethren.

As you might have guessed, I'm rather fond of droids. ;)

Oh, I'm sure you could find a place for droids if you really wanted them.

The main thing I really wanted was just to get jedis in Stargate. I'm honestly not even too sure what purpose droids could serve, off the top of my head there's nothing remotely analagous to them in Stargate SG-1 among the aliens. The humans have their various robots like the MALPs, UAVs, those cargo carrier thingies, etc, but those are really nothing more than tools. Droids have a lot of personality. Besides which, I'd prefer not to touch the human technology at all.
