Stargate knowledge check

I've always liked watching stargate, but haven't had the time or money to really look at the universe the show is in,

so here's a query for those who do have that knowledge ...

other than the episode tonight (rerun on scifi) about the mayan skull, has there been anymore informatio on the massive pyramid (and why they and the goa'uld have pyramids) why they are enemies ... any data at all would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

According to gateworld, that's an episode in season 3. I've seen all the episodes of stargate, I think, and I don't remember them ever revisiting that topic, though. Can't come up with anything besides that one episode in google, either.

About the pyramids, in the original movie, the goa'uld used the big stone pyramid on the planet they visited as a landing platform for their spaceships. Other than that, who knows? Stargate universe aliens like pyramids.

I think the motivation for that episode was more to explore Daniel Jackson and his family background. The new aliens were kind of incidental. It was kinda neat that rather than making them goa'uld (because they used pyramids), they did make them another type. The new aliens used pyramids because the real ancient South Americans built pyramids, so it had to be worked in somehow, really.

The Goa'uld steal ideas and technologies from other species all the time. It's possible that "pyramids = landing pads" was an idea they stole from that particular species of aliens.

kinda why I asked the question ... oh well, thanks for the help guys. I hope there's a decent end to the ori story arc ... not just oooh we have a bigger gun now! (I don't like the invincibility factor of the Ori's follower's ships)

Yeah, but if you've caught it, they've hinted that the Ori's ability to power the things they gave thier followers comes from a direct link from them by way of their worshippers freely giving them power (by way of some sort of conduit between them and said worshippers). I'm getting the feeling there's a way to sever the link between them and weaken the Ori.

when/if that happens it would be cool to see a real space battle ... not just one side blowing the others to smithereens [wolf sings badly] I'll do anything for girl like you [/wolf stops singing badly]

ps ... Media Lounge????!!!! ok, wasn't expecting the name change.

Wouldn't it be original if they "upload a virus" into the Ori through this link.

Via a Mac laptop, no less.

That's assuming they don't use Merlin's anti-Ascended superweapon.

Which seems kind of weird to me. Granted, I only saw the ep once, but the way they were talking, the weapon would anihilate all ascended beings in the entire -galaxy- that it was triggered in.

Doesn't that seem a bit MUCH? Or did I misunderstand its scope? :)

Dont expect to see that weapon till the END of next season if ever.
