I have not seen part 2 of this yet (I'm on Hulu's schedule), so no spoilers from those who have seen it, please. :)

I'm guessing that whatever fried that alliance soldier is related to why the ship is not moving. I'm gonna say that the incoming wormhole caused Destiny to stop someplace dangerous, and now it can't get going again, perhaps because it's using all of its power to protect the inhabitants from the dangerous thing outside. The power surge caused a momentary loss of protection under the damaged bulkhead, which fried the alliance soldier.

Again, please do not confirm or deny this if you've seen part 2. :) I'm stating my theory based on facts from part 1 and I don't want part 2 spoiled by somebody saying whether I'm right or not. :)

Actually, it was Mirror Universe Spock with a Tantalus Field.

The LA is just a priate confedration that stepped in to grab power. They should be falling apart.

They're more of an interstellar crime syndicate that has its hand in drug running, among other activities. I have no idea how they hold together, since the leaders tend to come off as Chaotic Evil, but they're still intact. Either that or the various groups have their own turf and they don't mess with each other. They only popped up in the last two seasons of SG1, where the Ori where the big bads, and I don't remember them ever playing any part in Atlantis. Anyway, it's interesting to see them fleshed out a bit as villians. Some people don't like the whole communications stones bit, they'd rather see Destiny completely isolated, but I think I like how the show's been balancing the crew of Destiny with things back on Earth.

The one thing I don't get is how the frack the Stargate program is still classified and generally unknown to most people on Earth. I swear, between all the NDAs that have been signed, plus the involvment of the IOA and the growing international nature of the program, I'm surprised half the world doesn't know about the program by now.

Nooo! Now you've ruined it for me! ;)

Since you're so out of date, it certainly pleases you to hear that in Germany, the final episode was already shown last Wednesday.

Actually, if I was willing to spend the extra money for extended cable I could've watched the finale already, but ~$50 extra a month is just not worth it for me and my husband. There are only 2 or 3 more shows we'd watch a week if we had extended cable.

Young's apparent murder attempt which was actually an attempt to break the brainwashing was an interesting plot development though. I understand they did it that way for the drama, but if it wasn't for the dramatic needs of the show, he really should have told Wray what he was up to. Especially since it was a risky move to begin with.

Also, it seems maybe Young also has trouble with giving orders that might send someone to their deaths. Maybe that's why he's been taking some foolish personal risks throughout the show. And that's why he hesitated to vent the atmosphere in the gateroom when Telford stepped through (really bad move because the LA, while human, aren't going to play with the normal rules of engagement).

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the last episode.

I see him doing that just to spite her. He didn't have to and he didn't want to so he didn't. I think he likes to piss her off and play these games.

Maybe. I still say it's for dramatic reasons. Young has been at least trying to force himself to listen to Wray even if he disagrees with her. For example, in this episode he did entertain her suggestion to negotiate a prisoner exchange, even though he didn't seem fond of the idea. Okay, likely he was interested in using it only to buy some time for Telford but he at least did let her go through with it.
