STARGATE UNIVERSE #7:Earth/Season 1/2009

I'm not really worried about anyone eating or drinking something that their "host" might be allergic too.

I mean, come on, think about it . . . whoever the brass pick to be your "host", if they have any serious allergies that you could inadvertently trigger, they'd tell you about it.

"Welcome home to Earth Eli. While you're here in Sgt. Central Casting's body, be aware he has a severe allergy to peanuts. Go have fun!"

You're assuming that they've thought through all of the ramifications of having untrained civilians using ancient technology in an unexpected and high-stress situation. The original plan was probably not to use the stones for R&R purposes by non-military personnel.

No, not really. Even if the body travelers were confined to base and not allowed to have any fun at all, they could still eat a P&B sandwich in the mess. It strains credulity to me that the "guests" wouldn't be warned of any major medical conditions of their hosts that they could inadvertently trigger. Which is why I feel it wasn't even dealt with in the show at all, because it's a given.

Now, the scrogging your ex-wife in somebody else's body and the gifting of your host with a nasty hangover the next morning . . . . that's different stuff right there!

Having worked with the government, I assumed that they picked the body swappers based upon the needs of the mission on Destiny and only considered Young, Chloe and Eli as afterthoughts. That would be very in line with how government workers of any stripe think. "Let's accomplish the primary mission...secondary complications can always be explained away as unforeseeable." Sadly, that works more than it should IRL.

When I saw the pilot, I was overjoyed that here was a show where the pudgy geek gets the girl. Then, I was pretty upset when Chloe got together with the handsome soldier guy.

I know what it's like to be in Eli's place, and I felt kind of disappointed for him that Chloe went for Scott. But then I don't think they're a good match overall. Chloe is immature, and Eli is to some extent as well, though his case seems to me more a matter of social inexperience.

I think now I would rather see Eli and Lt. James get together.

That seems crazy to me. :p

I like James. I think a normal woman in her position would be angry that some other woman has replaced her with the man that, just a few days ago, she was having sex with in the broom closet. But, no. She actually seems to feel pity for Chloe, as if she knows that Scott's just going to hurt her, and she can't really say anything about it.

I was a bit disappointed there was no catfight. But James is probably too disciplined for that being in the military and all.

I was being facetious with that comment. I thought Eli having a few homemade cookies was nowhere near the level of Chloe getting smashed, or Young making up with his wife in a way that proved to be awkward. Actually, I think Chloe was the worst case. Young is trying to work out relationship problems here, though jumping into bed with the wife in someone else's body wasn't really a good idea. Chloe on the other hand, is so busy trying to drown her sorrows over this bad relationship that she doesn't consider how it's going to affect the other person. And she may have a drinking problem too, look how she was dowing the booze in that first episode when her old man started bloviating about his support for the Icarus project. Though maybe it's just that she's coming of as shallow, somewhat selfish and immature to me.

Put my money that Telford and Young's wife already have a story.

Maybe that's why Young's wife was so willing to make up too, something else that occured to me.

Or Telford is such an a$$ that he is going to fake being Young to get some and mess with Young's mind!

Telford doesn't strike me as the kind of person who'd stoop to that. That's a line he hasn't crossed yet, though he's had plenty of opportunity. If he would do something like that then he might also take advantage of the body switch and pretend to be Young (claim the stones have been moved when they haven't) in order to better be obeyed on Destiny. I've been waiting for him to try to pull something like that, but he hasn't, which makes me think he's not the type of guy to cross that line.

I think he believed that Young and the ex-wife were on the outs but now he might believe otherwise. He might pretend to be Young now to pump her for information. ;)
