Starter Set Excerpt 4

I appears to be the talents of Mr. Mike Schley. Very nice.

Excellent work. Did he also do the original 3e FR maps? The style seems similar from what I can recall.

I'm surprised that Neverwinter is close by, but I like it; you have wilderness, dungeon, and urban adventure opportunities.

Yay hexes! I was hoping for 6-mile hexes, but I can totally see why they went with 5. Hex numbers would be nice, but for now I'm just happy there's hexes.

Yeah, the six mile hex is so elegant. Ah well, if you're not breaking down the hexes, it makes it a bit easier to judge longer distance, I guess.

This map appeared in the 4e Neverwinter Campaign Setting, although some locations have been removed and others added, as well as the hex overlay. Highly recommend it as a sandbox campaign location.

Another vote for the 6 mile hex.

This blog pretty much explains why better than I could. http://steamtunnel.blogspot.com/2009/12/in-praise-of-6-mile-hex.html

Well, when you look at the benefit of 6-mile hexes (more precise) and the benefit of 5-mile hexes (more human-useable), it's clear why they went for 5.
