It's better drawn, but I feel the face of the new stirge is too anthropomorphized. It looks as if it's about to to talk!

It's a freaking giant mosquito! It should appear emotionless. This looks more like an imp of some sort.
This, exactly my feelings. Better art but far to intelligent/gobliny(humanoid) looking

I like the art a lot, but it is sort of silly to give a stirge such a Muppet-y face. Unless the new Monster Manual description explains it's intelligence and need for a mouth. I'd be happier if it had totally black eyes or insect eyes, and no mouth, naturally.

You guys are hard to please...

This is one of the finest pieces of fourth Ed art I've seen yet. I hope the rest of the art we see is up to this level of excellence. :)

I agree. This is a great picture of the stirge; looks far more menacing than its predecessors. No doubt the new MM one will be a tougher opponent that the earlier ones too.

And if they do end up being more intelligent, so much the better. Makes them more scary in my humble opinion.

Bzzzzzztt!

I really like it, but then again I really liked the idea of a WereStirge goblin,

You advance on the lone goblin priest who is cowering in front of you his entourage slaughtered by your expert attacks

as you begin to look around the corpses of the goblins you've slayed seem to change, their skins are turning a mottled brown and their backs begin to bulge, their hooked noses extending and their limbs turn spindly, feet and hards merging into claws, then the bulges on their back burst open, two sets of wings emerging from their backs and suddenly you find yourselves with a new threat surrounding you.

also a neat way to get around players metagaming the minion aspect :p
