Stirge Art

Art Quality = :6:
Functionality = :1:

I STILL don't dig the double set of wings, the pincers look too big and bulky for serious traction, and the mischeivious imp-face makes it look like a silly fiend rather than a creepy bloodsucking beast.

I really do like the artwork a bunch though.

I like it.
I am not a fan of most 4e art so far and i've never cared for the stirge concept in any edition.
When i needed a bloodsucking swarm, i always used vampire bats or giant mosquitoes.
I prefer to keep the name "strige" or "stryge" for a vampire or succubus type.

And yet i like this one.
Yes, i would have tweaked the concept and given him one more pair of arms instead of the extra wings to make it more mosquito-like, and scrapped the needless stinger on the abdomen too.
Yes the mouth is goofy, but it gives thir stirge more personality than anything an artist like WAR could have drawn. It's not like the strige was ever a serious monster after all.

It reminds me of a hilarious card from the old Guardians CCG. I think it was called "Buzz the Vampire Mosquito" or something. Now if only i could find a picture of it.

I like it a lot...

...with the exception of the muppet head/mouth.

It almost has a Planescapesque feel to it.
