I liked it, but SNW season 1 still has a higher RT score then DS9, DS9's season 1 was better then TNG or VOY or Ent or Dis or Pic season 1, but it was still finding itself, SNW season 1 knew exactly who it was, what the plan is, and where its going, and was completely solid.

Yeah that's probably fair.

DS9 and SNW only trek to gave a good season 1 since 1987.

Couldn't finish S1 TNG couldn't get into Discovery after 6 episodes.

Life's to short for bad Sci Fi.

I'm only counting live action series for the purposes of this discussion, as the animated series never seemed to have had the bad season 1 curse (although the animated series had their own prematurely cancelled curse, with only LD surviving past season 2.)

Episode 4 was an interesting one, though somehow a bit unsatisfying. I think, just because of the nature of the problem, too little of the characters' solutions felt intentional for it to feel like them overcoming the problem.

It also felt a little too conveniently tied up at the end, with a quite remarkable lack of long-term side effects.

If Star Trek ever worried about long term side effects then doctors would be obsolete, because transporter operators could do literally everything that they do.

I did like the fact that this version of the Enterprise's medical bay contains its own transporter. Their potential medical applications have always been pretty obvious, especially with all the bells and whistles added to them since the TNG era.
