Strange New Worlds season 2 - SPOILERS

I'll ask again....why do you build star ships that don't have internal defense systems when bad people get onto your ship?

That said, I'm 100% liking this season more than season 1 for some reason. I think I was coming off watching all of Discovery right before starting season 1, and the comparisons were "interesting" for me (and NO, I do NOT want to argue about Discovery in this thread).

I... I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I would be okay with a reboot of TOS with Paul Wesley's Kirk. The main problem I'd have is I'd want to keep Ortegas, La'an, and Dr. M'Benga around. Maybe end it right before the salt vampire. Or what the hell, rewrite fake history and end it with Wesley's Kirk deciding to spare the Gorn species after we've watched a few seasons of Cold War with those scaly colonist-eaters.

I want to see them introduce Gary Mitchell as a guest character. I really wanted to see him in the rebooted movie universe but we never got him.

One of the big things I like about this show is that in an age where all tv seems to just "go go go", this show is allowed to slow down and breathe. The plot was whatever, but it was a chance to let the characters be and do their thing.

First, I really appreciate the nods to Hemmer, far too often on shows once a character is gone he's never mentioned again. It was nice to see his impact to a few of them. We have Spock looking to push on the relationship, with the Nurse wanting to just let it be. La'an is struggling with her feelings for a Kirk that no longer exists, Uhura dealing with old deaths and new ones....everyone just got to settle in and handle some on-going plotlines. Its just great.

The plot was so typically Trek that I knew what was up from the first noise ;)

Ridiculous wish: Have Chris Hemsworth cameo as George Kirk for a family reunion scene.
Not necessarily impossible, but it seems unlikely.

It did actually occur to me while watching it when his character was mentioned that since they are leaning into him being commander of the USS Kelvin in this reality as well it would be nice to bring the same actor in to emphasize that people looking and being different is all a function of the Kelvin timeline divergence.
