Because Ravnica starts with base fantasy stuff and THEN adds a MTG part to it.

Fantasy worlds have police, barbarians, mad mages and demon cults. So Boros, Gruul, Izzet, and Rakdos can fit.

Ain't nothing base fantasy about Witherbloom or Silverquill.
Sure, there is. Wizard colleges are a whole thing. You are trying to create some big dichotomy, but Strixhaven is far more normal generic fantasy than Ravnica.

You're missing what I'm saying.

Strixhaven as a Wizard college is as generic fantasy as the Boros Legion being a magic police/army.

However WOTC didn't attempt to sell us a Boros Legionary fighter subclass that shoots lightning helixes.
WOTC did try to sell a Silverquil College Wizard.

Had WOTC went with Magic School Wizard, College of Schools Bard, Magic Domain, Academy Sorcerer, and Arcane Pact Warlock, they likely would have gotten in the book.

But it would built of specific colleges designed on a MTGism: colors. It wasn't built off a D&Dism like power sources, alignment, outsiders, social classes, adventurer classes, or races. Nor was the college just examples. Jamming Lorehold or Silverquill in any setting might prove clunky. But a Lawful Evil house? That's very D&D.

They will have Spells and Feats that tie in specific elements of the Colleges for what that is worth, but frankly they are not that Outré at all. The Color Wheel translates perfectly well, because the Magic team has developed an intertwining set of philosophical positions which translate fine into a different medium. They do not need to mention the Color Wheel for the Colleges to make sense on their own terms.

The color wheel doesn't translate perfectlywell because it was design for a game starting planewalking spellcasters. There is still barely a concept of a Green or Blue Warrior. The Strixhaven college were built to match the MTG color pairs and not natural concept nor a D&D one.

Silverquill displays it the best as Silverquill doesn't match any base fantasy or base D&D concept. It ispurelyto be a W and B college that doesn't retread Orzhov WB from Ravnica. It will feel forced if outside of MTG.

None of this is really true. They are Slitheyrn combined with traditional Rhetoricians as Wizards. This really isn't that hard or complex.

It;'s not about being complex or hard.

Rhetorician is not a D&D mage type. It's bardic at best. But Ink magic is such a super niche type of magic to be one of the 5 colleges of the magic school to be ported into multiple settings. It's like having a college based on ducks and dancing. There's nothing wrong with duckmages but it's not generic enough to shift to any setting as a how school of thought.

Then you have the whole system be a mess and the whole thing needs to demoted.

Again, this doesn't really make sense: vocal components are a common part of Spells. Based on what was seen in Ravnica, there is no reason to believe any of this will be a problem, or require a particumechanical change.
