Stumped: Why Can't I Burn?

This one has me really stumped. My son has made a list of songs in several Library Options: Creative Media Source and/or Windows Media Player. They are in MP3 format and were downloaded from the internet (yes, they are fully legal; I won't allow otherwise).

The thing is I can't burn from either Creative Source or WMP. Nor can I burn from my Nero 7 or the simple but effective Burn & Go. The burns even say that they are successful but when we go to play the disks we get nothing.

Here is the thing: We downloaded the same list from the net on his cousin's computer that is older and the list burned successfully on his CD burner. That disk works fine.

My drives are Lite-On DVDs and I've used them to archive my information successfully. We tried three different types of CDs - Phillips, Imation, and Maxell with failures in each.

Advice most welcome.

Hmmmm. When you've used the drive before to archive stuff, did you burn them to DVD or cd? It could be the cd laser is out.

Well this is weird. I told my son to try the audio burn one more time. He used Nero and it worked! Why? I haven't a clue. I still don't get why WMP or Creative doesn't work, nor why Nero finally worked.

Its because you posted to a forum. It has the same effect as when somebody watches you when you do any kind of demo that was just previously running perfectly...
