So, if I use a weapon that is a size level lower it will move the weapon to a different weapon category?

I mean using small tridents - 1d6x2 is the same as using two light short swords, the only thing that changes is the flavor then?

There's also the -2 penalty to attack rolls for using a weapon of inappropriate size.
