D&D 5E Suggestions for a multi-level adventure

First Post
So I'm running a game on roll20 for some friends and I've come to a realization. I can TELL a story but I'm kinda terrible at WRITING a story. So I need something I can run that will span several levels until I can get something together that isn't crap. Problem is, one of the players has already run all the Wizards books as the DM so I need something he's not seen. If any of ya'll wonderful folks has any suggestions I would LOVE to hear them. What I'm looking for is something starting around 3rd level that I can get in PDF form that covers a few levels, ideally from 3-10 but even 3-5 would be great, and setting doesn't matter.

Thanks!

Maybe grab something on DMsGuild? There must be something there he has not run or read yet. I have seen several arcs and a few loosely tied story threads based on a few locations.

pukunui is a player in my games, DMs his own games, and also a beta tester that gets to see and review preview versions of most adventures before they are even released. We have no problems with the fact he knows a lot of an adventure I might run - in fact it's pretty hard these days to use published adventures and not have someone who knows something about it. You just have to be mature enough to make sure you don't abuse that level of player knowledge, and play the game that's in front of you.

I've run Curse of Strahd, and it wasn't a problem, because not only is that adventure designed to be somewhat randomised, it's also do dense that it provides a lot of latitude for the DM to improvise and create something that no-one, not even the DM, could predict up front. I'm also currently running Storm King's Thunder, and while I've also changed and added a lot, the bits that I know he does know or at least recognise, are not a problem, in fact sometimes it's good having someone who has a basic knowledge of the setting and so on, it can actually help having a player help the campaign come alive especially if other players (and me as DM) are not Forgotten Realms experts. For example, he plays a Noble from Waterdeep, who can be expected to know plenty of stuff.

Look to the past. There are a lot of old adventure paths for 3rd, 2nd and Ad&D that are easy to convert to 5E. Seek a Shackled City.

I've had a great time running Dyson's Delve, the mini-megadungeon - https://rpgcharacters.wordpress.com/maps/dysons-delve/ - extremely easy to GM and add your own ideas. Stats are for classic D&D but you just need a 5e Monster Manual for conversion - also you'll probably want to reduce treasure by a factor of 10 at least on the upper levels. For 5e it should work great for a 2nd/3rd-6th/7th level party.

This is almost exactly where I was about 7 months ago. I am ridiculously terrible at creating a story or campaign but I'm decent at telling one at least in 5th edition D&D.

I started my first 5E campaign (first ever as a DM) with Lost Mine of Phandelver because it seemed like a good adventure for us all to learn the system. After we finished it and everyone wanted more, I needed to find ideas to keep the current core campaign story going. I searched the web for any free campaign I could find and kept ones I felt I could work into the story either now or later down the road. After exhausting that search, I went to the DM's Guild where I found several inexpensive options I could also incorporate.

So what I have is a patch work of adventures, that I have either borrowed or bought, and can keep my current story going through at least 12th level with what I have now. In fact I really have more material than I need for the current story which I can use on future campaigns or one shots. Other than that I just keep my eyes open for more material wherever I can find it because I don't have the creative writing gift.

Wow, he's already run all of Tales from the Yawning Portal? If it was a couple of months from now, I would recommendthe first act of Zeitgeist.
