It's not really that bad. Consider that bows already have quite a number of advantages over melee weapons -- doubled enhancement bonuses, Point-Blank Shot adding to damage, and the ability to inflict damage without getting hit in return. It's not asking much that they should be vulnerable to getting sundered compared to melee weapons. If you don't want your bow to get sundered, the answer is not to get into melee.
Don't think we'll be changing to the actual rule in the campaign I play in either, since the archer is the wife of the DM!![]()
That... is a problem unsolvable by the rules.
