Superhero Powers

First Post
With "Sky High" opening this weekend I've been thinking about superhero abilities and powers.

If you could have one heros set of abilities, who would it be?

My first thought was Superman of course. But then I started thinking... Jon Jonzz, The Martian Manhunter might just be a lot more fun. His ability set is more varied...

Super Strength
Limited Invulnerability
Martian Vision
Limited Shapeshifting Abilities
Invisibility
Intangibility
Telepathy
Thought Sensing
Telepathic Relay
Telepathic Assault

His one weakness is Fire. Which I'm not fond of myself anyway (had an aprtament burn down once...).

You could be anyone, go anywhere, learn anything... I'd be bloody rich in no time... :)

So who would you pick?

I'd say Invisibility/Intangability combo would be all I'd need, with the ability to make objects invisible/intangable at will.

Yup, THAT would be cool...

Give me an indestructable skeleton, a set of retractable claws, heightened senses, and a super fast healing factor and I'm set! ;)

If not that, then I guess a Green Lantern power ring would be cool, sans the silly vulnerability to the color yellow that is...

Honestly, I just want to fly.

My brain can provide a list of other powers that I feel I should want, but my heart knows only one.

Hmm. If I had to have the powers of an existing hero, with all it's attendent drawpacks or advantages... hmm. I then think about 'what would be cool to have' vs. 'what would give me the most advantage' :) I'm assuming for the sake of the exercise that you can't do something stupid, like 'I want to be The Beyonder' or something similar.

Cool to have:
A Green Lantern power ring, of course. Unless they've changed it all again in the recent series, there is no downside to it - no weakness to yellow, or wood, or whatever. They don't call it The Most Powerful Weapon In The Universe for nothing, but I doubt I'd have the willpower to make it do more than make flashy lights. I can't make myself not take that extra doughnut so how could I manifest enough will to open a stargate? But being able to manipulate matter and energy to my will? I'm so there. Kyle was duplicating virtually every superpower in the JLA while he had the Ring. He helped move the frickin' Moon. I'd so want one.

Nightwing. Mr. 'I'm so athletic I can practically dodge bullets and jump off buildings onto speeding trains and not die'. Plus the smarts.

Invinclible. Strength, Flight and a really, really, really high level of invulnerability and pain tolerance.

'The Best to Have':

The Molecule Man: Total unconscious control over the physical state of the universe. Nothing you can't make or get rid of. If he had similar control over energy, he'd be one of the most powerful beings in creation. Not a bad job if you can get it. It really, really appeals to that altruistic side of me, as well. Regenerate limbs. Rebuild cities. Reverse desertification; make the Middle East and Africa bloom like gardens. Clean up the air, the seas. Feed the hungry. Destroy illness.

The yellow weakness was revealed to be caused by Parallax . . . the embodiment of fear. It has been imprisoned in the central battery, so the yellow weakness exists, unless you are able to feel and overcome fear. In the new ongoing series, it is planned for rookie Green Lanterns to have the yellow weakness until they learn to overcome their fear.

I throw my vote in for Green Lantern, too.

In brightest day,
in blackest night,
no evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might,
beware my power:
Green Lantern's light!

Screw the Green Lantern power ring. If we're kicking around super power jewelry, I got dibs on the Infinity Gauntlet.

Omnipotence is THE ultimate super-power. :D

Not if the Infinity Watch has anything to say about it!

Well, there can't both be the Infinity Watch and the Infinity Gauntlet simultaneously. If I've got the latter, there is no former. ;)

The only thing I'd have to worry about would be that Living Tribunal guy, but with the Infinity Gautlet, I think I could take him in a fist fight. :]

I'd use Galactus like a big club to bludgeon him, or perhaps with that pointy hat of his, a mace rather. :p
