I'm not saying this for show, but to me, Superman on screen will always be, Richard Donner* and Christopher Reeve. I have never watched any TV series like Smallville or Lois and Clark, but every big screen adaptation of Superman since has just fallen flat for me. I have seen them all, and this just looks like another Superman Returns or Man of Steel. Both of which were disappointments to me.

* But not the part where Superman wraps up Non in the Cellophane Superman "S" in part II. WTH is this?

I'm the opposite. Reeve personifies the big blue boy scout for the time period but having read more than a few Superman comics none of the movies thus far actually capture Superman or the DCU accurately for my tastes. Donner's 1978 Superman gets the character right but none of the spectacle. Superman Returns is just trying to copy paste what Donner did and fell flat. Man of Steel captured the spectacle and scope better than any other Superman movie to date but...that character wasnt Superman. Man of Steel was an excellent first contact/alien invasion movie... but it wasnt Superman.

This one looks like it's a great balance and really is going to capture the tone of an actual comic and even as a huge Marvel fan (both comics and movies) I am 100% here for this iteration of Superman.

I have tickets for IMAX @ AMC Lincoln Center for both my self and my now grown son. His only real Superman exposure was Man of Steel at this same theater 12 years ago when he was 11.
