Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

I'm not versed with Superman, but my casual impression was that he can with the Fortress, do some scientific stuff that is advanced in terms of technology, but that's mostly due to access or knowledge he may have?

But Luthor's intelligence is a different magnitude; he accomplishes stuff with "Earth" technology that's equal too or easily surpasses others cultures' technology.
The comics version canonically has a genius-level intellect, but I read that as raw processing power/memory, not "brilliance". That's why he can read a book at super speed and understand what the book says. So if, say, Superman and Lex Luthor were to face off in a math contest or something like that, the contest would probably be close. But Superman doesn't have the same type of creative intelligence that Luthor, Mr. Terrific, or Batman has.

Yes, and I think this is the primary difference... very well stated.

The more I think back on the movie, the more I liked it and the more I think it worked.
It just took a while for my mind to get used to a Superman in the Gunn style, but his mix of sentimental and silly as actually a good fit.

I'm extremely keen for Supergirl now.
It did make me wonder about the Green Lantern TV series, which was being promoted as having a True Detective vibe. I'm guessing Guy Gardner wouldn't be a main character in that series if that's the case?

No, if I remember correctly its supposed to be Hal and John.

I don't remember it clearly being a family member. It could have been another vendor, a person on the street, another immigrant, etc.
It was another elder guy next to him, presumably another vendor, same ethnicity no indication they were related though.
I think you're understating it. You can't outsmart the clone without outsmarting the operator, and I am not convinced that the clone is operated by voice-activation for any other reason besides Lex wanted the most direct way to vicariously beat the crap out of Supes. That's absolutely Superman being clever and changing the rules of the game.

Just rewatched the Hammer of Boravia fight and realised its essentially Lex calling out moves like a chess master, the two lackeys say "its like he knows supermans every move before he makes it" and "yes, he's been studying him for years..." - which is a nice way to show Lex as a Clever tactician using Ultraman as his pawn.

oh and Ultraman certainly speaks - the pre-scripted Hammer of Boravia speech and "Copy That"

Like most series or movies where the audience is steeped in a place, or have expertise in a career field they then see depicted, often this comes up as criticism; it's valid.
Every show which shows a real place or a person with a career, basically.

I was under the impression that the Hammer's speech was from the speaker in Ultraman's chest, and not the man himself (who seems entirely mute). Trying to remember when "copy that" happened.

I don't think Luthor was replying to himself! It was a reply to Luthor saying something about Supes coming in at Ultraman's 6 o'clock. You can just hear the end of the "...clock" in that clip there.
