Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

It was funny as I watched that scene...I kept thinking I had missed something. I was like "ok is that some special building that has important DC reference, or is there something written that I'm just not seeing".

And then it turns out it was just a little joke with no real context and it felt even more silly.

Of course I have firmly lost interest in the end credits stuff. It was great in the early days of the MCU when true important reveals and connections into the next movie was highlighted. But nowadays its often just a "check the box" kind of activity, with little importance.
Humorous end credits things which aren’t setups for new movies have been a Hollywood tradition for decades. It just Marvel which turned it into ‘mandatory setup for the next movie.’

The mid-credits scene felt like a capstone to the movie, just a quiet moment between Supes and Krypto.

The end-credits scene felt more like the Shawarma end-credits scene from the original Avengers film, and honestly that worked well enough. I'd rather it be closer to this stuff than mandatory stuff we've gotten in the MCU.

I have to agree. He never really got his hero moment —repeatedly beaten by Lex’s goons, the JG were the ones to beat the Godzilla, etc.
Strongly disagree here. The film practically ends with Superman wiping the floor with the dozens of Lex's goons and he isn't even breaking a sweat; the only two he struggles with are explicitly metahumans, one a clone of him piloted by a Street Fighter II world champion and the other designed specifically as a means of killing him. As for the kaiju, the Justice Gang beat it by killing it, which again Supes was explicitly trying to avoid. You never feel like Supes can't beat it; it's whether he can find a way to do it while causing the least harm to the city, the people and creatures living it, and most importantly, the kaiju itself. JG didn't care about collateral damage or even bystander safety; Super took a quick break fighting it to save a frakking squirrel. They are not the same.

The point is we don’t know whether he can beat it or not because they did let show it to us. Like
I said, I’d have liked to see a big hero moment where he really shows off and establishes that.

Right? It’s almost like Superman is depicted as an actual superhero in the film.

I mean... it didn't even for a little bit have the upper hand; Supes had it on the back foot (literally!) the entire time. It is not a huge leap of logic that on a flat plane Superman would beat it senseless pretty damn easily.

The point of Superman isn't that he has the biggest punches. The point of Superman is that he saves people.

Exactly. Superman showed off his power constantly during the movie. His power is basic human decency and kindness.
