Bigoted: "having or revealing an obstinate belief in the superiority of one's own opinions and a prejudiced intolerance of the opinions of others."

For example, the author's response to people who took offense to certain sexual/LGBT content of the comics was to nastily opine that he wished he'd done it sooner so those readers would have gone away years ago. I can imagine the way a classy guy like Jim Butcher would handle a similar situation (probably something like, "Hey, that's the story I'm telling--I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it") but Rich Burlew had to make it a way to mock someone for disagreeing with him. That's bigotry, and I'm not okay with it.
So, the incident in question appears to be, "Rich Burlew put an openly lesbian character in comic #959, and some people got mad about it, and he made a snarky and dismissive comment about the people who got mad about it."

Just making it real clear and specific what we're talking about here. If you're talking about something else, feel free to correct me.

Okay, so it's the author that might be bigoted, not the strip. That's where I was confused. I don't pay attention to the author and the strip is fine.
