When your PCs keep dying left and right in the highly lethal 1e, it's nice to have a bunch of replacement PCs right there at hand

That, and the book includes the write ups for all the iconic PCs from Gary's original group, which is really interesting.

The write-ups I'd be interested in seeing. I've never liked using pre-made PCs, though. Back in the '80s we played Marver Superheroes. During those years my friends kept trying to talk me into playing Spiderman. They'd be like, "But it's Spiderman! He's so awesome!" My response was, "Yes he is, but then I'd have to act like Spiderman when I play." I've never liked dancing to someone else's tune, preferring to make up my own stuff. That includes rolling up stats and finding items.
