Better the Portable Hole than the Scarab of Protection. As I said before, if I had realized I could vote daily, the Scarab would have been gone a long time ago...

The scarab will always have a special place in my heart. It was one of my favorite PC's most treasured items way back in 2e.

Nothing wrong with it, and I can appreciate the nostalgic appeal for some, but IMO it isn't in the same league as the other items. It hasn't seen that much use in any of the games I've played over the years compared to the Staff of the Magi or Portable Hole. Even as a popularity contest and not a power-comparison, it just isn't as popular or sought after.
