I see “The Hobbit” on this list, but are we talking the Renkin and Bass animated film, or the Peter Jackson live action film(s)? “LotR” is arguably even more ambiguous, but I think in that case it’s safe to assume we’re talking about the Peter Jackson version, and including the whole trilogy.

The OP did say no animation. There are a whole bunch of animated movies that should be on the poll if they were admitted.

Limiting it to 80s movies might have made the list more manageable, and perhaps fairer with regard to VFX.
