(Suspended) OOC The Thirteenth Moon, a Story-Driven Campaign (D&D 3.5 Eberron)

I'm still in it to win it. I was waiting to hear more about my side quest and then life continued unabated. And if you need more "fighting types", I can always start pushing Vigil to be more martial. One level in Fighter or Ranger and I'm good. ;)

I have Read up on 'flamboyant mentor' and am ready. Just a heads up, though. I will be moving from Columbia Missouri to Nashville Tenn. and will be AFK from about 24 Jan to 28 Jan 2013. This is a move that has been expected since I awoke from my Rip van Winkle coma last late fall/early winter.

Are you still looking for players? I own almost all of the Eberron books and could come up with a character in a day or so including some background.

Yes, Graybeard, I am looking for one more player at the moment. The character creation rules should all be linked on the first page. Let me know if you have any issues with finding them.

Herobizkit, I will take a look again but I think the ball is in Vigil's court. He found the place he is looking for, now he just needs to find the individual he was sent to find. If you can't find the last post I will link it.

For the others, if you are still present and accounted for then please do post on the current IC thread for the next plot arc concerning the Daighter of Denion. I have introduced Cassa Faer, a friend of Denion who is willing to hire on the group to look into Denion's daughter's disappearance. But little has been said so far. And remember you can pursue your character's mini arc at the same time as the main plot. We will just assume the mini arc occurs during downtime.

I have placed a starter post in the ic, Not much though. Will add to it in am, fighting an infection.

Here is the basic stats of my character. I will finish the background soon.

[sblock= Backstory]

Soranda does not know who her birth parents are. She was left as a baby on the steps of a temple of the Sovereign Host. The clergy at the temple had no desire nor resources to raise a child so they brought the newborn to a young devout childless couple. The man and his wife, Duran and Lorsanna Aurenz, operate a small tailor shop in the town of Ardev.

Soranda grew up a devout follower of the Sovereign Host just like her adoptive parents. As she grew older, she told her parents she wanted to join the church to repay them for everything they had done for the family. With her parent's blessing, Soranda set off to join the clergy of the church of the Sovereign Host.

Within a matter of months, it was clear to the elders of the church that Soranda, while eager to learn, did not have the aptitude to join the clergy. She was too eager to use violence when angered or when she felt someone had been wronged. They decided to take advantage of her natural tendency to want to protect others and offered her the opportunity to study martial arts in one of their monasteries. They explained to her that some of the monks travel with members of the church to protect them from bandits and others. Soranda thought this sounded good and agreed to join the monastery.

Now, 7 years later, Soranda left the monastery to travel with a few others to the great city of Sharn. There, they would continue their training with a new mentor. On the way ro Sharn, the caravan she was traveling with was attacked by bandits. Soranda and her fellow students helped fend them off. Unfortunately, a fellow student named Aaana Thorn was severely injured and near death. The other members of the caravan were able to stabilize her condition until they could get her to the city and to proper medical care.

Soranda will never forget that day. The bandit leader wore a bright red cloak. She vowed to ensure he was brought to justice for his crimes one day. Additionally, something miraculous happened that day during the attack. One of the bandits shot her with an arrow. She was certain she had been seriously wounded but somehow, the arrow had failed to pierce her skin more than a fraction of an inch. She was positive the Host was looking out for her. When it happened a 2nd time during the attack, she felt a small burning sensation near her left breast.

Later that night, she stripped off her tunic in private and noticed a strange mark above her left breast. It looked somewhat like the tattoos she had seen on some of the travelers back home but different. She was concerned about it at first but then decided it must be a sign from the Host.

Eventually they reached Sharn where she stayed at the Pavilion of the Host in the Sovereign Towers District, Middle Central Plateau. She was assigned to Lorsanna Korvane, a veteran of the war and a devoted member of the church. Lorsanna would serve as a mentor and teacher to Soranda

Everything looks good so far, Graybeard. What is Soranda's alignment?

I will come up with a mentor for Soranda and a way to fit her in to the game soon. You may now feel free to add your character to the Rogues' Gallery and begin posting in the In-Character thread. Of course, since I have yet to introduce your character right now you are limited to character development style posts. For now, assume your character is staying at the Pavilion of the Host in the Sovereign Towers District, Middle Central Plateau.

Pavilion of the Host: The largest temple complex devoted to the Sovereign Host in Sharn, the Pavilion of the Host consists of a grand open tower ringed by temples dedicated to each of the nine deities in the pantheon. In the central pavilion, sacrifices offered in major festivals and on important holy days honor the pantheon as a whole. The ranking priest in Sharn, High Priest Phthaso Mogan (dwarf male cleric), leads most of these rituals and sacrifices. Homes for the many clergy working here occupy several tower levels below the Pavilion.

Graybeard, would you rather have a mentor within the Church or would you be okay with a mentor outside the church. Truth is, Sharn is an administrative center for the Church of the Sovereign Host. They don't have a lot of monasteries there (in fact they don't really have any). Most monasteries reside outside the bounds of major metropolitan areas in Eberron. The only monk NPC I could reasonably set you up with is a kalashtar, and that doesn't really fit your background. I could always create one, but I don't like to create even mid-level NPCs for the city unless there is a very good reason. Another option is that High Priest Phthaso could serve as your mentor. Though not a monk, he is wise and learned in the ways of discipline.
