Sustain Minor

Also: I really hope they have feats that allow you to sustain multiple effects.

Meh, I really hope they don't. One buff at a time should be plenty. Not just because buffs are potentially overpowered, but also because it's more fun to have one big buff than 10 small ones. (I say this as a guy who played a 3e barbarian/cleric... urgh for 5 rounds of buffing before combat!)

It's also easier to keep track of one buff instead of multiple ones. But I think another reason is the potential for abuse or "breaking the math". Later buff abilities can only conciously "break" the math - by specifically granting an even higher bonus then previous ones. You won't simply stack another type of bonus that previously didn't exist.

And since we have Sustain Minor, we'll probably have Sustain Major as well. And it makes sense too: using mage hand to move a basket of kittens is easy, but moving a mountain with your mind should require all your attention (possibly granting combat advantage :p)...
(BTW, is Major a standart or 'full round' action?)

From where you got the name 'Major' ? My guess would be that we can have 'Sustain Minor', 'Sustain Move' and 'Sustain Standard'.

Remember that fly is not more so much for flying around on high altitudes as for moving over pits/lava/dangerous terrain squares. Having fly ending in middle of lake of lava and 'floating gently down' is not going to help so much.

It might not help the mage, but it sure would help the narrative. Particularly if the DM makes him roleplay the gentle descent.
