Spoilers SW: Skeleton crew discussion thread

I’m just not getting “stormtrooper training world” vibes so far. I mean, that guy Fern wants to race looked old enough to be sent off to boot camp.

It seems like the kids are being trained as bankers / etc so it could be First Order related but not soldiers. This could be the First Order’s banking world. Maybe it was a lost High Republic world that the First Order has infiltrated / co-opted.

Hopefully we don’t have to wait till the last episode to find out!
How do you ensure stormtroopers are not troubled by a conscience? First teach them to be bankers.

We know that First Order stormtroopers don't even have names, just serial numbers. So unless these kids are being raised in idyllic suburban surroundings only to have their spirits crushed and memories erased later, it certainly doesn't seem like they're destined for the front lines.

I could see this being a world co-opted by the First Order, but where the the "stormtrooper training" idea ever come from?

When your car you're losin', and sadly you're cruisin'
I'm a jolly banker, jolly banker am I
I'll come and foreclose, get your car and your clothes
Singin' I'm a jolly banker, jolly banker am I

We know that the First Order kidnaps children and trains them to be soldiers. Because this show features children and there's definitely something suss about this "ordinary world", it's been assumed that this is all secretly part of the First Order stormtrooper training program.

The Great Work is a High Republic reference, though.

Aside from the droid-enforced police state elements, I'm not really getting any First Order vibes. I mean, at this point in the timeline, it's still early days for the First Order, but even so ... I won't be surprised if it turns out there is no First Order connection here.

Did anyone translate the name of the school?
It's apparentl "At Attin Middle School Gamma":

Um, OK, PL. But isn't this what you get whenever you reduce someone with 2 consonants down to their sounds-like code? Is that supposed to be considered ominous?
Also, "FN" doesn't stand for "Finn". It's the other way around. Poe gives him that name to help humanize him.

Why do all the names have a single syllable? My other three names have two, and therefore would need at least three letters.
