[SWd20] To those who want Episode III goodies

Blech!
Clone Wars (Jedi Jack) should not be brought up...
The Mace fight was probably the worst thing in the series. For a number of reasons... Not the least of which is the several mile jump to get a drink of water, and then jumping several miles back into the battle.
*retch*

I feel the powers were SO overblown that the series was actually making fun of Jedi.

Oh... and what was with the swoop bike jousting?
*boggle*

Next thing you'll be wondering about is why the Confederacy had droids that looked like spiders. :\

The IG droids on the lancer bikes were great.

Clone Wars was a fantastic series.

Blech!

Most of the story was good.
....
Most.

But the art just totally ruined it for me.
When my 10 and 6 year old Star Wars FREAK daughters started talking smack about the animation less than 2 minutes into it, you know it's got to be bad. And Flash Windu sucked most of the rest of the enjoyment out of it. There were a few ... VERY few good shots in the Flash Windu fight against the droids. Like when he disassembled the one with the Force, and used the parts to destroy the others. That was the best part of that battle. But the Flash Windu sequences and the 5 mile jump (or so... I didn't go through and count the feet) were just ... Ugh...

And the Swoop Bike jousting... that just sucked.
It was horrible. Horrible.

I think my 4 year old can draw better than the art on that show. What was with Palpatine's forehead and Anakin's chin?
Palpy's forehead looked like a battering ram, and Anakin's chin.... well... Eric's granny would not like me to say what Anakin's chin looked like... Let's just say I wasn't entirely comfortable allowing my daughters to look at his chin...

Once again, I say.... Blech...
And ... Ugh...

Ughblech.
And I'll raise you a "Blargh" ...

The ARCTroopers were mostly cool, though.

Well, I think we'll have to agree to disagree. :) The animation style didn't bother me at all. I'm not sure a super-realistic animation style would have been much better. I read the "Republic" comic series set during the Clone Wars and it strives for realism. Let me tell you - I don't think I've seen them nail anybody's look. At all. Some look like completely different characters (Ki Adi Mundi and Anakin, for example). However, that is not to say that the series has been fantastic. I can look past the differences in animation and concentrate on the story. I can picture in my mind's eye what the Clone Wars micro series and the Republic comic series would look like if they were set to film. To me that is a sign they both work.

The Clone Wars cartoon was better Star Wars entertainment than any of the prequel films.

Star Wars + Genndy Tartakovsky = pure animated excellence

Agree to disagree... they do that on the net? ;)

Like I say... most of the story was good. I was so disappointed with the Mace Windu sequences, though, that I'm willing to concede that he didn't miraculously save himself from death when he was flung out the window by Palpy, rather than let him live with that kind of mockery...

We'll definitely have to agree to disagree.... on both points.

I liked Jar Jar Binks better than I liked the Clone Wars cartoon.
And if you had any clue how badly I hate Jar Jar, it would give you some sort of hint as to my hatred of that "art" style.

I didn't think I could dislike any sort of animation as much as I dislike manga/anime... But... there it was.... Tartakovsky fuelled a hatred in me even deeper than Legend of the Overfiend.

I mean... even my KIDS thought the animation was bad... And they like the Bakshi version of The Hobbit...

What would have been awesome would be if they had gotten the animation team that brought us Titan A.E.... Some may quibble about the story/plot/believability/whatever... but the art was top notch.

Personally, I hated the art style as simplistic, but I liked the actual stories. Yes, the Mace Windu bit was over the top, but as they say in the DVD commentary they intentionally used Mace Windu for, and even the official site implies that it's not so much what literally happened, but how that little kid remembered it (http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/paxisylo/) and how that battle went down in history (and legend), as that kid tells the story of a Jedi Master who singlehandedly fought an entire army (and kinda ignored the clone troopers).
