Swim Invocation- balanced?

Hey, everyone. I'm playing a Warlock in an upcoming campaign, and I was wondering about making a new Invocation.

Would you say it'd be balanced to have a Least Invocation of the Swim spell? Basically, Swim is a 2nd-level Sor/Wiz/Wu Jen (possibly more) spell that lasts for 10 minutes/level, and grants the target a swim speed equal to their base speed and a +8 bonus on swim checks to avoid dangers, but doesn't grant Water Breathing. Would this, in a mostly land/airship campaign, be balanced as a Least Invocation with a duration of 24 hours?

That being said, would it be balanced to have the same Invocation grant the caster Water Breathing as well? Water Breathing is a 3rd-level spell, but (in my opinion) mainly because of its long duration and the ability to be cast on several people at once. (Also, consider that with a single casting of Alter Self, you could get both of these benefits, and then a ton more as well, and that's a 2nd-level spell.)

Your thoughts?

Well, fly is a 3rd level spell, and the fell flight is a lesser invocation. I would say that both swim and water breathing are worse than fly, so either individually would definatly be a least invocation. Both together is a little more questionable, but I think, given the more restrictive targeting of the water breathing effect, it would sqeeze in under the line as a least invocation.

Note that the fly spell works just fine underwater and is usually superior to swimming...

I asked my DM about it, and he said it's fine. You see, I'm gonna be playing a gestalt Warlock/Wu Jen, and my character concept was that my character came from a different world- an oriental world governed by five nations, all in charge of one fifth of the world, and each fifth of the world corresponds to one of the five elements (fire, earth, water, wood, and metal). One section's all fire, one section's all barren earth and mountains, one's a giant forest, one's all metal, and one's all oceans and waterfalls). My character was going to focus on the water aspect, and, as a result, I wanted there to be some way for me to reflect my character's upbringing in a world of water.
