Paladin takes Ms. Green's hand and lightly kisses it before turning his eyes to her and saying, "Indeed my lady, a most excellent dinner it shall be as soon as it may be arranged. We thank you greatly and with luck, your help will have saved the life of this 'J-Pappy'. To that end though, we must leave most rapidly. Fare thee well until the next time we meet."

The team arranges escort to the airport. Psyren calls her agent, who in turn calls a friend of his. He says he will call when he pinpoints J Pappy's location.

At the airport they find Dick has the vigilant gassed and ready to go. "Hey Wheeler checked in. He wants you to contact him. "

 

[El Jefe]

"Hey Wheeler checked in. He wants you to contact him. "

The more Avatar worked with Dick, the more he liked the man. "Hey, thanks, I'll give him a call right away", answered the Resolute. "Start planning a course to LA, although we might have a different destination by the time I get off the phone with Wheeler", he directed.

Avatar proceeded to contact headquarters, again briefing Wheeler on the latest developments.

oOC:Look for a reply Late Monday or Tuesday. I have a work assignment that is going to force me to pull some grad school hours to meet a deadline. Procrastination is a bad thing.

Wheeler listens as Avatar gives him the lowdown. His responses:
-The fight- Don't worry, he just won round 1, we'll get him.
-J Pappy- Yeah, I know Dr. Theodopolis just called an hour ago. He's having a party in Malibu to celebrate his role in a movie. Since Psyren is with you, he'll consent to having you around. Apparently, her agent was able to work an invite for her, a date, her security detail. He wants you to be discreet, though. I don't know what you're going to do with Paladin. That getup isn't exactly subtle. When you get there check in with Mr. Butterworth, his cheif of security.
-Ms. Green- Well, I'll be. Maybe I haven't been giving the boy scout enough credit

Ok. A local who owes us a favor has consented to letting you land on his property using the VTOL capabilities of the Vigilant. Get to J Pappy's, check in with Butterworth, protect the Winged Disk Tablet. Any questions. Oh, by the way, Theodopolis is assisting some of our people with trying to find Sacrificial Bowl of Nanna. Apparently, she's heard some rumors. We've got people in the field verifying them.
oOC: They moved my deadline back a week. They shouldn't enable my procrastination addiction like that.

Sergeant takes some times to remove his Resolute outfit and put back his old clothing, without teh trenchcoat. His outfit seems chic enough to blend in most kind of ceremony. "Psyren, you might be more familiar with those kind of celebration. You think it is clean enough or I need to be more clean than that... or maybe I need to be more... like a rapper?"

Avatar verified that Dick had the coordinates of the helipad in Malibu, then started putting together a plan. Sergeant's age and disposition probably ruled out his being Psyren's "date", but he'd be perfect as part of her "security detail". That left himself and Paladin. If he was dressed in something other than his armor, Paladin looked the part better, but Avatar doubted if he had the disposition to pass as a pop star's boy toy. Avatar was getting to be a little too old for one of J-Pappy's parties, but he'd done something like this many times before. Hmmm. If Paladin could be fitted up with some dress clothes that fit over his armor, could he pass for a bodyguard wearing a kevlar vest? Best to ask the team what they thought about all this.

"All right, guys, let's get together and have a little meeting...we need to get our strategy straight before we do this. You, too, Psyren - you're our ticket in, and you know J-Pappy better than any of us. Ok, we've got an invite for Psyren, her 'date', and her 'security detail' to go to a party at J-Pappy's Malibu estate. That's right, we're undercover. Sergeant, you're perfect for the 'security detail', so that's your assignment. Either I can go as Psyren's 'date', and Paladin can wear something over his getup so that he looks like a bodyguard wearing a vest, or I can be one of her 'guards' and Paladin can wear his armor as some kind of 'fashion statement'. Once we're there, we check in with J-Pappy's security man Butterworth, enjoy the party, and above all else, make sure nobody runs off with that Winged Disk Tablet. Anyone got anything to say about how we do this? Psyren?"

"If Paladin is doing the bodyguard, he won't wear his armor. It wouldn't be serious to have him in his armor, and a full plate mail isn't a kevlar suit, so it can't be easily hidden. I think he would be better seen as an excentric date of Psyren. After all, even if he doesn't seem to fit in the general population, he has some charms that even Ms Green have fallen to." tells Sergeant

"Paladin be best to wait in car as security," Psyren says. "Many stars do this, and he needs his armor for supers, no? Sergant, your outfit says 'security', so that be best for you. Avatar, you have a casual suit you wear with no tie? I think I have something I brought for party like this."

Psyren grabs her bag and heads into one of the available rooms in the Vigilant to change. She emerges in a Khaki miniskirt with a shimery emerald green halter top that matches her eyes. The top has an extremely low back and has string ties near the top of her back. She's managed to fill her hair out a bit, or perhaps let it flow over the front of her shoulders a bit more as well. She likely could model on a runway in this, however, she doesn't seem happy, "I didn't bring right Jewelry. I need earing and neklace to realy fit in, no?"

The heroes land and are surprised to be greeted by Mr. Wheeler. "Great to see you. Listen, the press has gotten a hold of this. They're calling the guy Relic, it's all over the news. We're a part of the feeding frenzy, so don't give out any information to the press. We need to nail this guy quick. The resolutes could use the good press, some of the UN is argueing against the need ffor this team. So I brought some clothes for you to wear. You look great Psyren, but I thought you'd look better in Versace. I brought some tuxes for the boys also. Avatar, there's a makeup kit for you since you have a secret identity, and will want to disguise yourself. J Pappy will meet you in thirty minutes. The party actually starts in six hours. Oh one last thing. Gremlin wants you to get Peter Dinklage to autograph his DVD of The Station Agent. I guess he's a big fan", he says this last part with a roll of his eyes.
