[Sblock=AT THE MANSION]

As the trio climb halfway up the staircase they hear raised voices coming from the area of the front door. A series of shots ring out. "Stop. I said argh!", the voice of Brixton's security man ends upruptly. Brixton shoots an alarmed look at the two heroes.
Avatar's mind raced. "
Shots first, then the guard speaks...this wasn't the way the OI was attacked", he surmised, and decided that the masked figure at the museum was unlikely to be the source of the gunfire. "
Either this is unrelated, the intruder is just Dawson's henchman, or it's a diversion." Deciding that no one course of action would cover all three possibilities, and seeing Sergeant racing off to confront the intruder, Avatar turned to Lord Brixton.
"Button up that vault and hide...we'll take care of this", he suggested. Avatar drew his pistol and quickly followed Sergeant, mentally reviewing the layout of Lord Brixton's estate for good hiding places, as he longed to surprise the intruder instead of confronting him openly. "
I hope these fancy UN bullets work", he thought as he descended the stairs.
[sblock=OoC: ]If the intruder(s) are just garden-level henchmen, Avatar will use what concealment and cover is available to gain favorable odds, and just shoot it out with them. But if Dawson is present, he'll want to lay an impromptu ambush so that he can use his
Sneak Attack skill (+2 to save DC). He'll also want to use
Power Attack at the same time, trading 4 points off his attack to gain 4 on the save DC (Attack = [+11] [-4] = [+7], Save DC = [+4 (heavy pistol)] [+2 (Sneak Attack)] [+4 (Power Attack)] = [+10]). If
Sneak Attack is unavailable, he'll trade off 5 points on the
Power Attack (Attack = [+11] [-5] = [+6], Save DC = [+4] [+5 (Power Attack)] = [+9]), if you'll allow that (reference
Power Attack limitations).[/sblock][/sblock]
