Ngikhnit proceeds, with rather less enthusiasm than he has for most of the past minute, to the northeast, up to 4 squares (diagonally, 30') if he does not become aware of a creature in his way (in which case he will attack).

Ngikhnit follows, skirting the side of a marketstall and moving ahead of Midias. No one can see any sign of the creatures. There is nothing to be seen beneath the cart.

Quozen...

[sblock=Ngikhnit, Pendrake, Quozen]Just as Quozen comes abreast of Pendrake, the creature - one of the creatures - emerges from nowhere, striking the elf a glancing blow from behind. Now shadows torn from the air cling to the creature's hunched black mass like tattered fragments of clothing, trailing off into vaporous nothingness.

OOG: UT1 takes an AoO on Quozen, hitting AC 32 (yes, 32) for 4 damage. Quozen is now on 11 HP. IVV, though Quozen is yet to ready an action, his move action has been interrupted and he can now of course respond with a standard action. The UT1 has a 20% miss chance from a blur effect.[sblock=Maps][sblock=Ngikhnit]

[/sblock][/sblock][/sblock][sblock=Midias, Peladus]Just as Quozen comes abreast of Pendrake, Quozen stumbles as though struck by a glancing blow on his left side. The effects of the attack are plain to see - and yet still, there is no sign of the creature that made it.[sblock=Maps][sblock=Midias]

[/sblock][/sblock][/sblock]OOG: up next, Quozen to complete his turn.

Quozen responds to the strike by reflexively spinning around with a roundhouse kick, scything the air with the tip of his ponytail. Clearly, his technique does not show the precision as before, but he waves the sunrod menacingly at the beast.

[sblock=Midias]Quozen strikes out at thin air - and it is obvious that his foot makes contact with something.

Then at last Midias sees this mysterious creature. It emerges from nowhere as though he has finally turned his head or squinted his eyes just right, striking at those nearest it with aggressive clumsiness. It is black in colour, or a yellow so dark it could only be called black. Its flesh is like damp leather, clumped in a formless mass above which two long tentacles writhe. Shadows cling about it and trail from it like vaporous scraps of clothing, but it possesses a twitching, writhing vitality that makes clear that it is alive.[/sblock][sblock=Ngikhnit]Quozen's foot makes contact with the creature, but with insufficient force to do damage.

It wriggles on behind him, and strikes out at each of the three companions that now surround it, with aggressive intent but such clumsiness that its tentacles miss, and a greater appendage bounces harmlessly from Pendrake's armor.[/sblock][sblock=Peladus]Quozen strikes out at thin air - and it is obvious that his foot makes contact with something.

Then at last Peladus sees this mysterious creature. It emerges from nowhere as though he has finally turned his head or squinted his eyes just right, a formless mass topped with a pair of tentacles. It is black in colour, or a yellow so dark it can only be called black. Its flesh is like damp leather. Shadows cling about it and trail from it like vaporous scraps of clothing. It flails in all directions as it attacks those near it. A tentacle thuds against the cobbles beside Peladus' foot. A larger extrusion rebounds from Pendrake's armour, leaving him unharmed.

To Peladus, there is something about the creature that screams of wrongness, of alien distance. It comes from beyond the confines of the everyday world, like a devil or demon - and yet not like. But he knows - at least, he has read - something of evil outsiders... that they may resist magic and fire or lightning and poison.[/sblock][sblock=Pendrake]Quozen's foot makes contact with the creature, but with insufficient force to do damage.

It wriggles on behind him, and strikes out at each of the three companions that now surround it, with aggressive intent but a great deal of clumsiness. An outflow of the creature's main body again rebounds harmlessly from Pendrake's armor.[/sblock][sblock=Quozen]Quozen's foot makes contact with the creature, but with insufficient force to do damage. Its surface is less yielding than it looks.

It wriggles on behind him, and strikes out at each of the three companions that now surround it, with aggressive intent but such clumsiness that only an extrusion from its main bulk hits, rebounding from Pendrake's armor harmlessly.

OOG: Quozen misses, due to natural armor.[/sblock][sblock=Map]Close up of positions:

[/sblock]OOG: UT1 attacks Pn, Q and P, and misses each time. It has a 20% miss chance due to a blur effect. There is no sign of UT2.
