[sblock=Trouvere]Reasoning that if the creature can climb, it might have gone up the ladder, and that if it can't, the rooftop might offer him safety as well as an observation post, Peladus moves towards the ladder.[/sblock]

[sblock=Peladus]More wrecked objects appear at the shadowed edge of the magelight as Peladus continues into the yard: another coil of mouldering rope, broken crates, a barrel with rusted hoops, and more scattered timber.

OOG: hold up. Initiative order is Pendrake, Midias, Peladus, Ngikhnit. Situation might not be the same by the time we get to Ngikhnit.

neeeeed fude . . .

fed and good. Now for Pendrake . . .

IC:
Midias follows Pendrake.

[sblock=Pendrake]Ngikhnit emerges from behind a market stall, cutting across toward the pair fighting their unseen foe.

Something slaps Quozen hard. Pendrake's vision clears, or the creature returns to visibility, and this time he sees it deliver the bruising, burning tentacle slap that sends the elf tumbling to the cobbles, unconscious.

It turns its attention to the more threatening figure approaching from the north - Pendrake himself. Even as it slides towards him, he loses sight of it once more, for just long enough that he cannot dodge its attack. He feels the sharp sting of acid again, and then the creature is there again, flailing madly. Another strike goes astray.

Gillin turns his attention to the fallen Quozen.

OOG: UT2 hits Pendrake for 3, putting him at 43 HP.[/sblock]
OOG: Round 15. Pendrake...

Pendrake sees nothing at first, but the moment that the creature attacks the smoke clears and like an epiphany he sees too late the monk fall to the injuries inflicted upon him.

"Quozen!!"

Then he sees the the creature slither toward him, "komen om je vader zeeslib!" he grunts at the minor pain inflicted

"is dat alles wat je hebt? Ha!"

then Pendrake returns with an attack of his own

[sblock=IVV]OOG: I forgot that Quozen should make a stabilization roll at the end of the round in which he falls unconscious and dying. It seems a little unfair that his regular companions have no chance to act first, but those are the rules. I did have Gillin attempt a Heal check, with no success, though.[/sblock][sblock=Midias, Ngikhnit, Peladus]Pendrake's powerful attack does nothing but shatter a clinging shadow wreathing the creature.

OOG: 20% miss chance applies.[/sblock][sblock=Peladus]A plank lying sideways on top of the pile of wood shifts. Something still unseen brushes between the broken chair and ladder. The attack when it comes is impossible to dodge. The crushing blow is accompanied by the burning of acid on skin. Now, too late, he can see the creature, a bulbous black hillock with a pair of tentacles slapping the air.

OOG: UT3 hits AC 18 for 5. Peladus is on 6 HP. Alone in a yard with his companions 150 feet away or more. Just saying.

Midias hurries forward. Ngikhnit charges in recklessly, but his flail sweep, like Pendrake's effort, passes harmlessly through obscuring streamers of shadow.

OOG: Peladus (acting before Ngikhnit, but actions unlikely to interfere)...

[sblock=Peladus]Peladus steps out of reach and bathes the monstrosity in a swirl of shimmering light. It doesn't even appear to notice.

OOG: no miss chance required.[/sblock][sblock=Midias, Ngikhnit, Pendrake]The creature slaps back at its assailants, directing two of its myriad tentacles at the off-balance Ngikhnit. One drives past his knee, the other into the pit of his stomach, winding him.

The creature rolls like a ball west, and loses itself in the darkness again. It buffets Pendrake, and in doing so slips from hiding. A tentacle whisks past Midias without touching him.

Gillin, wrinkled face contorted with anger, moves in front of the fallen Quozen. "Take this, you filth!" he shouts, and delivers a swing worthy of the adventurer of old. It seems to the warriors looking on that Mildred more easily spatters the resistant black skin than their own weapons. Alas, the unpleasant ripping and tearing happens again, as the creature tries to rid itself of the object embedded in its body by pulling its flesh away from around it.

A second - no, a fourth - creature is born, and the shiny exposed sides of each turn leathery even as new tentacles extrude. This newcomer flops east, and continues to attack. But it seems confused, and strikes only Gillin. He cries out with pain, but remains standing.[sblock=OOG]So much rolling! Two attacks on N, a miss, then a hit for 4, taking Ngikhnit to 0, and disabled. 5' step west, everyone loses sight momentarily, attack on Pn, now flatfooted, hit for 4. He's on 35 HP. Everyone regains sight of it; it attacks Midias and misses.

Gillin steps up and hits with Mildred for 6. Creature splits into UT2 and UT4.

UT4 5' steps east, and attacks. Everyone bar Midias lost sight of it until after its first attack, but it was easier not to split the narrative just to reflect that. Misses Pendrake twice. Hits Gillin for 4 (he's AC 8, poor fellow). Misses Ngikhnit.[/sblock][/sblock]OOG: end of round 15. Pause here to let IVV roll one, possibly two, stabilization rolls, for the end of last round and the end of this.
