[Talisman-studios] Introductions and releases

talisman-studios

First Post
Well I best begin at the beginning. I'm Alan, I work for Talisman-Studios. Oh and hello and welcome. You might have guessed I’m here to tell you about the latest releases from Talisman-Studios. But with this being the first post and all I would like to tell you a little about us first. We have been around for a while - some of you may have heard of us through Shaintar but right now what we are really excited about is our new range - Gamescapes - a line of high quality visual accessories for your roleplaying game. Each one lets you see the things that you'd otherwise only talk about.

* 'Story Cards' show you items and people that can become a focus of your gaming sessions.
* 'Story Maps' offer you floor plans of unique and wonderful locations (in the right scale for you to put miniatures directly on them).
* 'Stock Art' collections give you a variety of royalty free images to use as you wish.

Every Gamescape is beautifully rendered in hi-res full color by superstar artists like Aaron Acevedo and Jason Engle. We think these are among the best looking game aids available and hope you agree.

Now the official stuff is out of the way let me tell you some real interesting stuff. You'd be forgiven for having missed our releases - unless you frequent rpgnow and drivethrurpg we haven't really been promoting our products and yes this is a gentle first step in that direction. Please don't be mad. The good news for you boys and girls if you haven't heard of us yet is we've got a real treasure trove of stuff for you dig into - item cards, character cards, map tiles and stock art split mostly between fantasy fun, pirate and seafaring booty and sci fi toys. And even better than that right now you can take advantage of our special offers on our sci fi range - good for this week only. Because if you hadn't heard rpg.net is having a sci fi week to promote ray guns and FTL drives and all that good stuff most of us have at least a small soft spot for. So scoot over there and have a poke around this week - you mind find out about some gems you would otherwise of missed out on.

So I'll be back (sci fi pun fully intended) to keep folks up to date as we release future products and to let you know what cool stuff we have lined up, answer any questions you might feel the urge to ask and so on. In the meantime check out our website and if you do choose to pick up some of our stuff (available from rpgnow and drivethrurpg) we would dearly like to know what you thought of it, we want to build on our strengths and correct anything we can so either by review or by dropping us an email or even posting here - talk to us!

Thank you,
Alan

I most certainly do agree. I've been following Engle's work now for about a year and have been using it for inspiration for various NPCs in a game I was running back then. Engle does EXCEPTIONAL work.

Yeah there really is no denying the man is highly talented and does some seriously beautiful pieces. We are most fortunate to have him on board - if only we could have more of his time. Have you checked out any of products? The one set of 'pirate' genre npc cards we have out is not illustrated by Mr Engle but is still beautiful and a really interesting product - I am keen to see how people react to it. If you want to see some of his work for us I recommend the map sets. For those that want a taster the demo images for all of products can be found here normally we post links to a specific demo but I figure you'll forgive the lack of a pretty layout for being able to poke around and investigate easily.

Thank you,

Alan

MONEY!!! CREDS!! JINK! Whatever, it is that sinuflll thing a great many player characters covet and as lovely as watching the digits rise I myself am a firm fan of the site, the actual real site of a fat wad of cash. Now you can enjoy that sensation on the tabletop, and bizarrely enough pretty cheaply too. Strange old 'verse ain't it?

If money makes the world go round, then this set of story cards will spin your whole universe. Sci-fi money includes visual depictions of far future credits in denominations from 1 to 10 million (dollar, clams, or whatever is accepted in your galaxy).

Like all our card sets, we’ve designed money to print 9 on a page to the same size as trading cards, with the same choice of card backs as usual, and the same high resolution design.

Use our sci-fi money to help your players feel like they’ve really got a wallet on them, to add extra authenticity to your games, and to add memorable moments (for that game of poker in your Star Wars cantina, perhaps). We can’t think of a cheaper, easier way to add a touch of realism to your gaming table.

Pack contains: a 10-page high resolution pdf with 54 full color item cards plus a choice of two backings - one for adding notes, and one hi-art version.

Available now on drivethrurpg and coming soon to rpgnow. Now don't spend it all at once...

Alan

A little later than normal but we hadn't forgotten you. Oh no. For your pleasure this week we have another stock art collection - this one showing off some 4 color super hero style action. The official word:

Following our previous successful Stock Art sets, we're delighted to bring you a wonderful new collection of images. This mini set contains five superhero illustrations, each stunningly colored and presented in print resolution (300dpi). Best of all, these are from one of art's own superheroes, Jason Engle. Jason has been doing some of the best work in the industry for years, and we're delighted to be able to bring his images to you in a royalty free format.

You can use and reuse these images as you wish, for your personal use in your game, in your fanzine, or in your own roleplay books for instance. Use them a thousand times if you want. Under the terms of the Stock Art range of products' non-exclusive license you may edit, crop, or resize the images to suit your needs. The only real limit is, naturally, that you can't redistribute or resell these images in any way. If published (digital or print), you must include the following statement: Some artwork copyright Talisman Studios (c) 2007, used with permission. All rights reserved.

Make your heroes extra-super with this great stock art collection.

Catch you later,

Alan

I was just talking with several people on another messageboard about wanting some product lines like this. Now if only you could do "monsters" like you do the NPC cards.

Monsters might prove a bit tricky and we've not really settled on a final format for how we do character cards yet. We have a sci fi npc's set due for release hopefully not too far from now and that is going to be a very different approach to character cards from the existing pirate set. But I most certainly have brought your comment to the attention of the rest of the Talisman team so who knows they might go and prove me wrong. I'm glad to hear hear you like what we are doing - thank you for the comment.

Happy gaming,

Alan

A little heads up, rpgnow is having a 'Christmas in July' sale for the 24th and 25th, there are lots of publishers taking part and offering 25% off their products and we are joining them by offering for this period only a bundle of story cards with 25% off the final cost - so for those that have been undecided about giving our stuff a go or have been tempted by a couple of sets but resisted the urge there has never been a better time to take the plunge.

That is all for now folks.

Alan

Hello folks,

Let me introduce myself. I'm Mark, the new Community Liason for Talisman Studios. I hope to be able to present Talisman in a professional manner that you are accustomed to.

Enough sucking up-Let's get on with the new stuff!!!

Far in the future, on the fringes of space, there’s a whisper on the grapevine. Collectors and speculators, mercenaries and hunters, they’re all flying in to the
Deep Reaches. The whisper says that ‘Bounty Base’, a legendary vault of the Second Age, has been found. Everyone wants the treasure, but you’re going to get it first. Right?

Your scanners pick up a weak power source on an asteroid and you move into range. Other ships have also spotted it and are heading that way. You ‘port into the main hangar bay of the long-disused facility, unsure what you’ll find. Others ‘port in around you. Somewhere among the red storage crates is a fortune in Galactic Credits waiting to be claimed.

The chase is on!

Talisman Studios is proud to present Bounty!, a fast-paced game of treasure hunting in a futuristic setting. To play you’ll need Story Map sci-fi sets 1-3 from our Gamescapes line, and Story Card sets 1-4. You’ll also need a D6, about an hour of free time, and two or more people.

Available now though our own Talisman Store as well as RPGNow and Drive-Thru RPG.

And if you haven't picked the GameScapes Sci-Fi sets, why not?
