Riverguard Keep, Day 5 early evening

The keep's chapel contains plain wooden pews facing a large altar at the west end of the room. No idol hints at what deity is venerated here. A crude symbol made of drift wood is fixed on the wall above the altar of the water symbol. Several straw pallets lie near the chapel door.

A woman and two men, armed with the wicked looking toothed longswords are talking. As you open the door, the woman turns to glare at you, yelling"I told you not to...!" she pauses when she doesn't recognise you then continues, "Never enter through that door again. Urshnora, you should have known better. Get that bear out of here, if it's tame put it with the bugbears in the north west tower." Continuing in a more level tone, "You are here for your lessons? Take a seat. She gestured towards the pews as the two armed men retreat to the back of the chapel.

Assuming you do take a seat, the woman introduces herself as Drosnin, then launches into a well rehearsed speech. Her speech goes on about the "truth of the deep waters" and "purity of crushing waves" and "great revelations to come".

It quickly becomes apparent that this speech is going to go on for a while.

GM: Let me know how long you are prepared to listen, either a rough numbers of hours or if you are going to wait until the end, or if you are going to do anything other than sit and listen.

OOC:
Well, sooner or later they are going to find the body of Urshnora. On the other hand, we finally have someone voluntarily giving us information (highly biased and suspect, but still).
So I'm fine to hear her out too..

Ilvellios is used to religious ways of thinking, so will be able to stay awake and ask reasonably pertinent questions:-)

Round 0

“Yes, ma’am,” Errol said deferentially to the woman, obviously a cleric or priestess of some kind. He took a seat and listened attentively for the beginning, but his mind started to wander as the spiel went on and on. But he was patient. They didn’t know where they were going in here, but it was a good way to gather information. He studied the guards at the back of the chapel, though they likely wouldn’t be the most dangerous in the room.

Duran looks as unimpaired as a bear possibly can.
OOPS! I was supposed to have a paragraph about sending the bear to the north east tower with the bugbears. Guess I'll just have to lean into it now.

Two votes for staying so far. As her rhetoric continues you gather that she is very keen on the violent destruction of anyone and everything that isn't a servant Olhydra*. Those that resist will be drowned and even those that submit may be called beneath the waves to serve closer to her princess. The information doesn't seem that useful apart from the fact that Olhydra is more important to Drosnin than life itself, and she feels that everyone should feel the same. You also gather that Olhydra isn't here yet but is waiting for her servants to gather their strength and summon her.

*I've spelled that wrong in precious posts.

GM: Missed Errol's post.

The guards at the back of the room seem as bored as you, and often roll their eyes at the more extreme views Drosnin expresses.

You also get the impression that this fort is just the tip of something much bigger. Drosnin references an ancient city and temple more than once.
