(Tavern) City of Orussus, The Red Dragon Inn VI

A short, pale, dark-haired elf enters the tavern. His clothes look a little worn, but currently clean. He has a bookish appearance about him, though the sunburn on his face is telling. He carries his rather ordinary staff and pack with ease. As is custom in the establishment he gives his introduction, "Greetings inn patrons, Joe, my name is Tenebrynn a librarian having recently returned from my first taste of the much lauded adventuring life."

Spotting his companion across the room, he joins him and sizes up the potential recruits, "Nurlan, how goes the search for new recruits? Hello all, I am Tenebrynn, companion to our master bard here." He extends his hands to all those gathered round, collecting names.

"Pretty well, it seems. These people are all interested. I just started explaining the situation to them. I'll let them introduce themselves, then we can finish the story."

"The Inn start to be crowdy. What I told you Tor. Be patient. You didn't had to wait long before hearing of a quest and some treasure. It is not saving the world, but you may save some live, that's the one true way to the fame you seek, a live at a time, just as in my trade, it is one bargain at a time on my way to have enough found to make the business I want.

Well, let me introduce me to the new comers. I am Rinaldo di Senzio. I am a travelling merchant. My business is the spices, but I want to change my domain for the one of rare and prized magical items. I am seeking both customers and crafter willing to take some contract. If you are interested, speak to me later, for now, we will listen to our poet Nurlan.

You offer sound interesting. I am no warrior, but I can hold my rapier well enough to not be a burden to my companion, so they say. But my true weapon is my words, and words can be very effective against a guild of thieves or system of justice, where words can have more powers than a sword or a dagger.

So, tell us, what is that Sword of Justice of Monemvassia."

The barbarian's eyes go wide at the sight of the librarian. Somac has rarely even seen a book, let alone a whole library! And here was a person who actually worked in one.

He extended his hand (practicing this new greeting) to the librarian. "Hello, Tenebrynn. My name is Somac of the North. I am very pleased to meet such a learned person. Your companion here was just telling us about your recent adventures. I myself am eager to do some good in this world, especially if it means battling evil creatures and setting wrongs right."

"I shall remember the wisdom of your words, so quickly proven, and I shall be ready to be guided by them in the future."

"I am Tor, a traveller from the mountains. My familly is small, and we live far from civilization, but my father and my father's father are both mighty warriors. I hope to become one as well, and to earn some stories of my own to tell around the fire."

"...The Sword of Justice, I am told, no longer functions as it once did. Perhaps you know of this fabled Sword of Justice?
"'No longer functions,' no longer schmunctions!" says Persephone hotly. "The sword works just fine. It's just that the sword is no longer with the King. He's got some kind of fake. The real thing is with Prince Julian, who should really be king. If he were in charge, you can be those goblins wouldn't be causing trouble for long. He's probably out there slaughtering them now. Have you heard anything of his fate?"

"Oh, I'm very sorry to hear all this bad news about Monemvassia. I don't know much about the theives guild. Oh, maybe..oh..." Persephone trails off, tears touching her pale blue eyes. Her owl coos softly at her from her shoulder.

Nurlan is thrown off by the emotional nature of Persephone's response. He delays to choose his words carefully. "I do not know of this Prince Julian. You obviously know Monemvassia much better than I. Tenebrynn and I spent three days there last week. But what you say makes a lot of sense in the context of what we heard. Everybody dates the troubles to the reign of the current king. We hear tell of the reign of King Jara, when justice prevailed and peace was enjoyed throughout the land. I would like to hear more of what you know about Monemvassia. Is it your homeland? But perhaps this is not the best time. I know you are all waiting to hear the rest of my story. I am expecting two more comrades who should be joining us shortly. But I think now would be a good time for a break."

He stands up and begins to sing one of the more optimistic songs in his repertoire, Who Knows What the Future Brings (Perform check: 8+3=11)

Rinaldo takes a sip of wine while he listen to the song. As it finish, he tell "Chat, song and wine, what can you ask more from an Inn?"

Interesting coincidence that Lady Persephone is a princess from the same place these adventurers just returned. It will be interesting to see when she slips that 'small' bit of information. She doesn't seem to be willing to reveal it to the adventurers, so I won't, either.

"I am pleased to meet you, Master Tenebrynn. I am Ashnar, a young wizard from Otun. I hope you excuse my curiosity, but what kind of library do you work at?"
