A young man enters the Red dragon, travel stained and weary. He goes directly to the Joe and places a small sack on the bar. “Messages for and care of the Red Dragon, one urgent sir,” he says politely, “And something to wash down the dust of the road would be a boon.”
Joe serves him absently with one hand as he spills out the contents of the sack with the other. Most of the scrolls and sealed packages he either stacks on the bar or places under it, but when he gets to one he calls over a waitress and points to the table where the small group is conversing and learning cards. She brings it over and says politely “Journeyer Kirin?”
The gnome thanks her and unseals the folded missive, smiling a little as a small piece of jerky falls out. “Someone back home remembers you fondly, Cirus” she says, tossing the treat to the big dog. Her smile fades as she reads the message, and when she is done she puts it in her pocket and looks up at her companions at the table. “Well, it’s not from a rich man, and there’s no specific guarantee of money, but we may have a chance to be heroes…. The hospice where I trained has sent word that they are concerned by an attack by undead they have learned about. All the details aren’t in yet, but they want me to come back with any aid I can bring so we can equip and head out as soon as they have a clear picture of what’s happening.”
(ooc: this is the hook to the Fort Knocks adventure, which I will start a thread for soon. You'll meet the current chaacter and npcs at the hospice.)
