"A demon book?" Katherine perks up noticably. "What do you mean? Did it talk about demons or was it written in Infernal script?"

"Abyssal, I think Brother Lenny said it was. He said it probably belonged to an alchemist. The book said something about 'experimenting on the elf'...

"Probably talking about the crazy hermit we found down there," Jack conjectures.

"Either way, Lenny's got it now. I let him feel good about giving me a few coins so he could keep it safe."

"Well, maybe t'will be worth it if they can do some good while they're out. Not that I know why they're leaving. Sure, I'll have a drink wit'ya, this is mighty good ale here. ... Y'know, that looks like a real snake."

"Oh, Naga, he's a real snake, but he is only dangerous when he is hungry, and you have to fear him only if you are a mouse. He ate two days ago, should be good for another 4 to 5 days."

She takes a sip from her mug.

"Come here baby, before you scare someone... not talking about you, but I know more than a peasant who wasn't please to see him."

The snake leaves the heat of his candle to crawl up to Opale. She gently take it and put it in her neck.

"Oh, I didn't know snakes ate so little. Or is it just this one? Seems like the sleep a lot too. My specialty lies in weapons -- not many people know how to use an urgosh, y'know." Farid lifts his cup and takes a swig.

"Yeap, it sleeps a lot, so it doesn't need that much food. Anyway, the mouse if almost as big as him. How much time do you think you could stay without food after you have eaten... says, a whole lamb?

Well, I personally don't like weapon. I have a dagger, but I use it more for days to days works than as a weapon."

Farid chortles and slaps Opale on the back, "Hah, I couldn't eat a whole lamb in a sittin' if a'tried. I imagine I wouldn't even smell a bite for a'week, though!

"...Well, a weapon is a tool -- you use it when you need it. Are you knowledgeable in snakes and other animals, or do you have other tools at your disposal?"

"Nope, I am no druid, the snakes is just a pet that I keep. Nope, I am an arcanit, so I have a few tricks in my pockets, but still, I am not found of battles, even if I have a few spells that can help me if I need to defend myself."

Farid takes a big drink of his ale. "Of course, only for when y'need to defend y'self. Such is a noble attitude. You don't think that just because a lad likes weapons he goes around picking fights?"

"Hmmmm..." Katherine sits back and gets a faraway look. "I've never had a chance to actually read the writting of demons and devils, I probably would have paid you just for the collecters item.... Experimenting on an elf, then? And alchemy too. I wish I'd been around for that one...."
