Thanking Anton for the invitation, Ironwolf pulls up a chair.

"I've heard that practitioners of Divine and Arcane Magic can produce a flame that lasts forever, but produces no heat. This magic is of great use, especially to those who often find their hands full in dark places. The local temples will sell such a service, but their prices are a bit high. I thought a fellow adventurer might be more flexible on price. As I do not posess the gift of Dwarvish vision... well, I'm sure you see the advantages, for one who prefers to keep both hands firmly on his weapon."

Edit: Ironwolf raises an eyebrow curiously toward the back of the retreating man, knowing he can't expect to understand everything when coming in in the middle of a conversation.

"Welcome IronWolf -- ah yes, an eternal flame... yes I have read of such things. However, this is as much as I can manage, at the moment --"

[Sunny prestidigitates a flame which is rather sickly-looking and blue]

"Well, that's about it, but it's a good try, grant me that?"

Anton nods, "That is indeed a useful item one may have. What is the price the temples sell this for?"

Turning to Lasair, "I think something may be the matter with Michael. It is not common for people to say numbers in such a matter."

His eyes widen as Sunny does his trick, "That is very interesting! How is this display possible? This is the Art?"

[Sunny, after pondering it a bit, speaks rather seriously, witout a hint of his normal goofiness]

"Well, think about it this way Lasair --

an analogy, if you prefer --

The sight of your topless self, sun-warmed, boobs bouncing as your walk, is regarded in our culture as a sign of, well, salemanship -- rather, saleswomanship -- a clear sign that you offer the pleasure of the flesh for monetary recompense --

This is how it strkes those in OUR culture -- while it seems quite normal to you.

On the other hand, the sight of a mass of metal, fashioned for violence, is for us nothing; it's commonplace. For you, however, it's a sign of something very wrong. That's your culture. In our culture, it's quite normal.

Neither of us are, perhaps right, nor wrong. But neither of the two reactions are particularly surprising, either. They are to be expected. The key, one guesses, is to be flexible and adapt."
"I guess the difference is that as I have already said, I accept that you Orrusians wield such swords, even though in my homeland it would be seen as wasteful...But if decided to practise my cultural customs right here in the common room, I would probably be jeered, insulted, stared at, and then eventually simply kicked out (Again she mentally adds) for disrupting the status quo...That is what proves that I am the one at fault here...that I must conform to the status quo before I cause trouble and pain for others, like Michael..."

Anton shrugs, "Michael will be back. I think there was nothing so bad that occured."

"It doesn't have to be excrutiating soul-deep pain etched in his mind forever to be bad, Anton. I think its bad if I even cause such trouble to people on a temporary basis by being myself, so that's why I just have to become someone else..."

"I am honestly not sure. I find it very difficult to make an honest rating of my own beauty, so I like to think of myself as plain. I think I can be objective, however, when I say that Meliana's breasts are softer and bouncier than mine, based on the few times that I had the honour of rubbing aloe for her."
"Well, I feel confident in saying that there is beauty in all women, but yours is quite obvious to me, so take that as the compliment for which is was ment. And I am sure that you shall not find a lack of men wanting to help rub aloe on you if you were to request it."

Vanitri watches Lasair and senses her frustration of being an outsider. "Unfortunately, the people of these lands judge where they don't understand. Many a time my caravan was asked to leave and blamed for some wrong which we did not commit. Be not ashamed of who you are, or where you come from, and take the ignorance of the people for what it is. All I know is that my place in the world is likely to wander it, and I know I'd be honored to wander with you for a time." Vanitri pauses and glances at Roselynn "Never can be surounded by too many beautiful women."

"Hello all. My name's Kinkaid. Pleased to meet you." A speculative look forms in his eye. "Say, I don't suppose any of you are gifted in magic to the extent of being able to produce an eternal flame?"
"Well met, Kinkaid, I am Vanitri. Come, join us in drink. Perhaps you could tell us of your journies."

Vanitri glances off as Michael runs out the back and shrugs. "Wonder what got into him? Did he need a bigger rock?"

"Also, not all pain is bad. It gives opportunity to learn."

"Certainly better than I could do in your place, good Sir. My own talents are given over to tricks of concentration, and provide little in the way of flash."

Trying to peace together the conversation, Ironwolf tentatively joins in.

"So that fellow fled the room over the simple discussion of a woman's breasts? I wouldn't necessarilly say a topless woman was necessarilly selling anything. It's more a matter of sexual cues. Locally, it is not customary for a woman to expose her breasts except in sexual situations. Perhaps that fellow is forbidden sex for some monastic reason, and wishes to avoid thoughts that would frustrate them. He may also simply be shy. Further, he might be confused, as any suggestion you relax and enjoy your own customs would rightly or wrongly be interpreted as lechery. In a strange place, it is often best to sit back and observe the locals and learn there customs. Customs are often too strange to guess at."

"Thank you Vanitri. Your kind words do bring some comfort to this horrid monster who can only bring disrest behind her, despite however hard she tries--and struggles--to be the same..."

"Also, not all pain is bad. It gives opportunity to learn."

"That is just semantics, I think, Anton. One can learn without pain as well, and it is a much kinder way to learn..."
