[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

Ariel Esimae, Female Aasimar Cleric

Ariel spent a few minutes donning her armor in the back room and returns to the table with Franco and Elanka, "It would appear that I have a more than a few minutes until we are ready to meet the man at his boat."

She she adjusts the belt and puts her ruck back down.

"Franco, you were telling us about your cabin and exile. You are not still considered a fugitive are you?"

She signals a barmaid to bring another round of kaff for her and Elanka as she eyes Franco warily.

[sblock=OOC]Unless someone tells me otherwise, I will keep role-playing with Elanka and Franco using the nebulous time-keeping of the Inn to leave the scene in between her adventure sign-up and actual departure. I can keep track of simultaneous scenes without a problem. :p [/sblock]___________________________________________

The door swings ajar, pushed by a diminutive, plump hand brandishing a handkerchief. The staccato of hard soles tottering across the floor accompany a bewildered dandy of a halfling--why, he's even wearing shoes!

He moves to dab his forehead with the handkerchief, stops, looks at it, makes a foul face, and quickly stuffs it into a pocket. He takes off his tricorner hat and fans himself with it as he scans the room, wrinkling his nose.

Marla strides over. "Good day to you, sir. Do you need anything?"

The halfling pulls out a piece of paper and a pair of pince-nez. "Oh, yes, dear, thank you... I'm looking--" he lowers his voice, "I'm looking for... there's a place around here where one can find individuals for hire? My informant said it might be... well, I fear I may have gotten a bad direction somewhere..."

The barmaid chuckles, smirks, and rolls her eyes. "Yeah, you've found the right place, apparently. Welcome to the Dunn Wright Inn."

The halfling is taken aback. He stutters momentarily as he scans the room. "Oh! Oh dear... Oh yes, I see how this is the place, this must be the place..."

He clears his throat. He performs some sort of nervous exercise with his face. Then he speaks, clearly. "Good day, a fine afternoon to all ladies and gentlemen gathered here. My name is Tilsit Dimplecotton, set director extraordinaire to the one and only Opera di Venza. You may have heard of me." He stops, looks around, and sniffs, quietly adding, "No, on second thought, you most likely haven't..."

He waves off the thought with a flourish of his hat. "I am in need of assistance, you see. We have recently finished performing Calpurnio's latest grotesque, Ronaldo the Jungle Orc. It was quite a triumph, I must say, but it has left front row center harboring a most peculiar pungency. Finding the proper velvet to replace the seating has proven most difficult, but a shipment has been promised to arrive. Yesterday. Oh, but the Opera absolutely needs this missing velvet! You cannot imagine the harrowing tales it takes just to make the most popular seats in the house to our visitors from abroad available while still maintaining a verdant effluvium! I wish to hire some group who can go find my velvet. I will, of course, pay handsomely. Oh, won't you please help someone just trying to keep the jewel of Venzan polite society shining brilliantly?"

OOC: Accepting PCs for Velvet Underground, an adventure for first level.

OOC: still not able to run Vincenzo, sorry. primary character is not 2nd level and/or not 2 months old yet.

on the light side, velvet underground and opera? *shakes head*

[sblock=OOC] There are two more adventures out there yet. Walking the Dead (think that is it) from DrJest and Shipyard Rats which isn't ready yet but will be I bet in time for your two months to be over. That would be Feb 8th btw. ;) And if not I may have another by then.[/sblock]

"Franco, you were telling us about your cabin and exile. You are not still considered a fugitive are you?"

"Well, I'm not exactly sure I ever was a fugitive, exactly. Father put me in that valley to keep me out of sight of the citizens - they think he's executed me, you see. I'm pretty sure I managed to get out of the Duchy unobserved, so technically I'm still following my father's wishes . . ."

Ariel smiles at the barmaid that brings more kaff. Turning back to Franco she asks, "So you are reforming yourself? That would show a maturity that is beyond the years your appearance would indicate. Or are you just running?"

She thinks running is more likely, but she is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all the priests at the temple do teach some forgiveness.

[sblock=OOC]Let's do the time warp agaaaaaaaain. :p [/sblock]___________________________________________

"Reforming? It's not like we set that fire on purpose! We were at the pub having a good time, and those jerks . . . well, let's just say they were not being very nice to those girls and leave it at that. We had to step in, y' see? And then things got outta hand, and when Demitir's spell hit the spilled whiskey the whole place went up, and . . . Anyway, all we wanted to do was get those guys to leave those girls alone . . ." He trails off, clearly caught between defending his actions and acknowledging that those actions had serious consequences for which he (and is friends) were ultimately responsible.

Ariel pats his hand in reassurance, "I understand, there was pure intentions at heart. That is something She would know and understand. In time forgiveness shall be yours, I am sure."

The acolyte is fairly new to this consoling others part of her duties. She was always to impatient and impetuous to be empathetic. But she likes the boy and words just flow naturally. She mentally shrugs and assumes it is Helina's will.
