[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

The gnome looks fondly at his furry friend. "He'll be much happier once he gets his flagon of heavy cream . . . and as he more than earned it on that last jaunt I'll have to make sure he gets one." He turns back to Garnett. "You acquitted yourself well on the island also, friend."

When the old man approaches him with his questions about questing Pari gestures at Garnett with his mug, then pats himself on the chest. "Aye, it's likely you've come to the right place, and your instincts . . ." He pauses to look for a moment at the old man's garb. ". . . or your God have brought you to the right folk. I'm Pari; my friend Garnett and I were just discussing the last time we ventured out to the aid of another."

[sblock=OOC]Excellent - perhaps Garnett and Pari can have that conversation while were venturing.[/sblock]

The Sword and the Fallen Angel - Recruitment

Jael Kedric looks at short couple (Pari and Garnet) and smiles wanly at their friendliness. He peers across the room at the smallish tiger and hadn't realized it was there earlier when walked up to the gnome and his friend the dwarf, Well, these individuals are certainly unique.

SirKedric.jpg

He replies to Pari, "Well, umm, I see. Grateful I am for your assistance, can you point out these experienced individuals, please? Our situation would appear to be beyond our church's physical capabilities at the moment as our journeymen paladins are not in residence and the task is beyond the novice knight's capability I am afraid."

[sblock=OOC]@mfloyd3, sure I have added you to the list. But in IC, Garnet hasn't been recruited yet. ;) Neither has Pari for that matter. We have time to wait and RP some.[/sblock]

[sblock=ignored prior post]
Marla Returned a while later, Draug leaning back and enjoying the ale now coursing through him as a delightfully full mar curled up next to him. He patted the red eyed wolf and smiled.

{{ahh, me lovely lady does enjoy some of the comforts of the city}}

Draug thought to himself as the wolf took up a seating position, her tail wagging as she looked at the approaching Marla, her head cocked to the side.

"I hopez ze not be brungen someting elze for de prinzess, laz"
"no no, mearly to collect the plate and mug... and to point you to the half elf over yonder, he is a hard worker out in the marshes, and often has some information for a kind fellow with tankard or two"

Marla Places another gallon pitcher down in front of draug and winks.

"Since you havn't bitten any of the other patrons yet i thought i'd let you know. We here at the Dunn Wright appreciate well behaved patrons..."

She bends down and picks the plate up from in front of mar, scratching the canine's ears who wimpers a bit realizing there wasn't any more food, but wags her tail none the less at the attention.

".. and their companions as well of course"

With that she leaves, Draug leaving the money for the drinks and food plus a generous tip as he picks up the tankard.

"nowz mar, je be a goodz girl this un noz for eatingz"

The wolf standing up and stretching as Draug beckons her to follow him, a slight look of dissapointment in her eyes as she eyes up the half elf. Draug chuckles a hoarse laugh as he sees mar's reaction and pats her on the head again as he sits down across the table from the Half elf.

"Marla zay ze needz ale, I haves to many for mezelf, and though me prinzess be goodz company, laz no is speaking much"

Plops the tankard down in the middle of the table of the elf and smiles, well what passes for a smile when you have 4 inch canines. The black wolf besides him though sizing up the half elf, weather as a friend or a meal, even draug wasn't sure.

[sblock=ooc] Though he speaks broken common, he of course thinks to himself regulary, and HM if you dont mind i will steal your marking for thinking to yourself as i usually just use italics, but that leaves some questions on occasion.

Also, should i deduct tavern purchases from my character? or no?[/sblock]

Draugs Half orc blood boils as he is slighted and ignored, siting quietly in broiled anger as the party grows and the ale and cards flow. His hand twitches at his side as mar puts her ears back and growls.

{{I'm not good enough to share ale with him? can't tell me he didn't notice the tall half orc and huge black wolf near him.}}

Draug growls himself before seeing the shiny, his eyes quickly looking over the medallion and his mind racing, as he pats mars head and urges her to calm herself as Draug does the same, his fists unclenching as he coughs.

"mez no know game, mez isht good wit de ale dough"

pouring a round for the table from the tankard he brought earlier.

"ze shiny ez prettzy? waz is itz?"

[sblock=ooc] Was originally gonna have draug get all mad at being ignored, however he likes shinys as much as the next adventurer so the sight of it calmed him down a bit, that and i wasn't sure if i was allowed to "intimidate" quest NPCs and other PCs *shrugs* on another note took so long for me to reply as i'm a reservist, so the first weekend of everymonth and on occasion other days i'm unavailable to post[/sblock]

[sblock=Devonus]I know I wasn't in the Dunn Wright Inn at the time, but even based on your latest post I have no idea who Draugs is talking to. :-S

But that's okay with me since the way I see it, Jael Kedric is having a private conversation with Pari and Garnet only until someone posts specifically they are talking with them.

And Ariel was around talking to Franco, but she is out on an adventure and slipped out quite awhile ago.[/sblock]

Pari looks around the room, sizing up the patrons and looking for those he's seen before. "Well, Heinrich - the fellow cutting cards over there with the half-orc and the other guy - has a few nice tricks up his sleeve. But unless I miss my guess he's about to be otherwise occupied. You just missed a group by a few minutes, but again they were already employed. I don't know the guy with the fancy bow drinking by himself. He looks competent, though."

[sblock=OOC]I looked back almost 100 posts and these are the only one's I saw a post for. The 'guy with the fancy bow' is Franco - not high enough level and not available anyway.[/sblock]

St. Ulthar's Medallion

OOC: It appears as if conversations have gotten confused. For the moment, I'm assuming Heinrich and Draug are drinking with Biaggio.

"so tell me, ist ein Frosch in den Arsch wasserdicht?" He sees him pick up the oval medalliaon causing Heinrich to ask, "Vas ist dat?"

Draug growls himself before seeing the shiny, his eyes quickly looking over the medallion and his mind racing, as he pats mars head and urges her to calm herself as Draug does the same, his fists unclenching as he coughs.

"mez no know game, mez isht good wit de ale dough" Pouring a round for the table from the tankard he brought earlier. "ze shiny ez prettzy? waz is itz?"

Biaggio raises his cup to Draug. "Game's simple, stranger. Low card buys the next round." The half-elf holds the medallion up to the light. "As for this, well, I found this in the bog near the Iparoc Mounds. Got jumped by a goblin who thought I'd be easy pickin's. Well, he's easy pickin's now...for the scavengers! Ha!" He slides the medallion toward Draug and Heinrich. "Not sure what it is. Got something stamped on it, but it's worn."

[sblock=Draug & Heinrich]Let's toss out some Knowledge (geography), Knowledge (history), Knowledge (local), and/or Knowledge (religion) checks.[/sblock]

The Sword and the Fallen Angel - Recruitment

Jael Kedric turns to the dwarven gal (Garnet) with a questioning look, Well, no real heroes present it would seem. But these two are possibly modest of there own talents.

SirKedric.jpg

He replies to Pari, "It would appear that capable heroes are in short supply. Oh, excuse me, I did not mean to offend you should you be self conscious about your height. I am Father Jael Kedric of the church of Helerion."

[sblock=OOC]Yeah, I realized that the DWI is rather bare at the moment. Just RPing around since we might have to wait for more than just Bats in the Belfry to finish.[/sblock]

If the Half Orc does not pick it up first Heinrich will give it his best appraisal of information, then hands it to the half orc for his perusal.

OOC: those are some sad rolls.
on an aside, the local and religion are untrained checks.

[sblock=ooc] Well at the time of my writing the only "half elf" occupant at the time was baggio. However i try not to use character names unless there has been an introduction, i may have to edit that a bit in the future however, at least in the writing section, not in the speaking sections[/sblock]

Draug takes the shiny in hand after Heinrich is finished, his eyes gazing over it for a moment or two and feeling it between his fingers.

[sblock=ooc] For ***** and giggles i'm going to detect magic on it using spell craft and my detect magic spell Edit: well, ignore the 2nd spellcraft roll, for some reason my browser wont show me my "pending" rolls, so i have to play it by memory. Nature check is the only one i'm trained in, the rest are untrained. and Scott thought he had some sad roles.[/sblock]

St. Ulthar's Medallion

As Draug casts a spell, Biaggio says, "Oh ho! A caster, eh? Well, nothing' blew up and my mind doesn't feel controlled. Ha, ha!" The grizzled half-elf shuffles and cuts the deck, displaying a particularly low card.

1d52=8

"Aw, @*%&^!" he curses. "I got a feelin' the next rounds on me, gents. Ha, ha!"

[sblock=Heinrich]Heinrich recognizes quite a bit about the medallion and/or Biaggio's story.

1. The Iparoc Mounds are about two days outside town in the bogs. They are a collection of hillocks that in the decades past were used as burial sites for a locals.

2. The people who used the Mounds were often outlaws and/or the disenfranchised.

3. The medallion isn't particularly value. It might fetch a gold or two. The worn image on the front appears to be a man standing in a boat.[/sblock]

[sblock=Draug]The medallion radiates no magic.[/sblock]
