[Tavern] Tower's Shard 2010

The tavern door opens slowly and a tall, lithe girl walks in. Black chain armor covers a shirt that would obviously have some give and flow if the armor wasn't holding it in place. The shirt is various shade of green worked in a leafy-looking pattern. Her pants are tight-fit and brown, and the also seem to have a black chain overlay. Deep green bracers cover her arms, and a deadly-looking greatsword is slung across her back.

Her skin is a deep sun-bronze, and her shoulder-length auburn hair is tied back with a leather cord. At first glance you'd think she was human, but then you notice that air about her that says she's Kalashtar. She looks young, younger than most wanderers, but still accustomed to the arms and armor she carries. She wears both with ease.

She stumbles a bit over the door entrance, but makes it seem as though done on purpose, then strides confidently over to where Priam and Orsik are sitting, sensing that they were capable individuals.

"Hello, good sirs," she said on approach. "Hope I'm not interrupting. My name is Talkrai, and I confess I'm new to the area. I heard this was the place to be if you're looking for action though. I hope that I was right."

Her tone is cheerful and she nods to each person at the table in turn in greeting.

OOC: I have kalashtar priest ready and approved, but I'd like to bring him in only after there some interest for adventurers appears since Cairn is here. Cairn can 'get stoned' and incommunicado, I'm just letting DMs know there is a defender (warden) and a leader(priest) available for adventuring

OOC: For the record, since I can't source it in my sig, Talkrai is an Ardent (the healy type). I just submitted her for approval so I'm waiting on that, but figured I should clarify anyway.

Priam's eyes light up at seeing a new visitor enter the tavern.

"Salutations,
Talkrai! I am Priam, Priam d'Lyrandar. It's certainly my pleasure to make your acquaintance. I certainly admire your can-do attitude, but I do hope this is not actually the place to find action, merely a place to start looking. I don't think I have any desire for a tavern brawl this day."

OOC: As soon as I get my second approval, I'll be ready to adventure (filling the controller role) as well.

"Good day to you Talkrai. I was informed to wait here and the adventure will find me. I don't think that happens all that often as these gentlefolk" - he shows toward gnome and peculiar stone cairn - "can attest. Somehow, everyone seems a bit subdued and avoiding open conflict. But I'm used to people being careful around me, maybe you have different experiences?"

OOC: I'm still creating this one, I need to wait until my first character levels up.

"Pleasure to meet you, Priam. Can't say a tavern brawl is what I was hoping for either. I'm looking for slightly more meaningful action."

She seems to ponders Orsik's words for a moment before answering.

"Well, open conflict often leads to bigger things. Probably people are afraid to cause another war, and who can blame them for that? Still, I can't say that anyone has ever been particularly careful around me. I sometimes used to wonder if they were less careful knowing I was around, actually."

That made her look thoughtful again, but the look was gone in a flash. Then she shrugged, as if letting go of something.

"At any rate, I think an adventure would be just the thing for me. Are you waiting for a particular type of adventure, or just hoping for something to liven up your day?"

A slim young man walks through the door, his garb louder than the talk echoing through the tavern. His piercing blue eyes scan the room from under a wide brimmed purple hat and a charming smile blooms on his face. “It appears I’ve found the right place.” He says in an accent fresh from the island of Stormhome. “I am Pis Memish and I thirst for adventure.” With a flourish he sweeps off a rich looking cerulean cape and hangs it by the door, baring his stark white shirt with sleeves heavily slashed in a vibrant purple. At his hip are a finely crafted rapier and dagger.

“Now, who is having news?” He asks with a rakish smile.

[sblock=ooc]This is Din, my PC awaiting approval.[/sblock]

Talkrai sensed the approach of a new mind and turned just in time to see the young man walking through the door. She was taken aback by the bright colors of his outfit, but tried to keep that feeling off her face. How does he ever hide from anything? she wondered. Is that normal here? I hope not. I don't think those bright colors would suit me at all.

Although her mind had wandered for a moment, she snapped back to attention when it was clear he was asking them a question. "News?" she questioned. "It depends what sort of news you're looking for, I suppose. I'm afraid I'm new here, so I certainly have no knowledge of the local goings on. One of these gentlemen might be able to help you better."

She smiled politely at the newcomer, it was a friendly smile that invited him to sit with them, and indicated the others at the table when she mentioned them with a brief wave of her upturned hand.

[sblock=ooc]As a note for those who aren't familiar with my style from L4W: The lighter text in italics represents her thoughts. Unless otherwise noted, it is specifically kept inward, not directed at a person as telepathic communication. I just find that it adds flavor to include surface thoughts sometimes.[/sblock]

Pis is loud, boisterous and cocksure. He carries himself in the way of those who seek adventure for the thrill rather than the profit. He has an unfortunate habit of posing. “My lady, if you are the news in the City of Towers, then I must say that the news is good. If you are new to here then you have tales of some other time and place then? I hear that beyond my own taste for adventure, the proprietor of this establishment smiles upon those who tell tales.”

He looks about the Shard for a moment,“I see no wizened man in the corner waiting to share his lore, and you people seem a better way to spend an evening in any case. What are you all drinking? I shall buy another round.”

[sblock=ooc]Affectation noted and appreciated. It does add to the atmosphere.[/sblock]

Talkrai blushed a bit at the man's words. She was having a hard time reading him and it was making her a bit flustered, uncertain how to react to such flattery. Fidgeting in her seat a bit, she glossed over his offer of a drink since she presently isn't drinking anything and doesn't know what the others are drinking.

"I can tell tales of where I'm from if you want to hear them, but I think someone who has a taste for adventure might find them dull. I grew up in The Dragonwood and this is the first time I've been out of it. I fought battles to protect The Wood, not for glory or honor, and spent more time than that healing the wounded, I'm afraid."

Her tone of voice implies sadness and uncertainty now.
