Telekinesis:Violent thrust to the roof or off a cliff? Does being "hurled" draw AoOs?

I am going to leave my part of the 'does involuntary movement draw AoO' debate over in the Imp Grab thread...but, one side on topic here.

The OP asked if allies would be able to use the AoO granted by thier buddy suddenly flying past them in an attempt to save him..

For my 2 cents, yes.. I think the cinematics of the scene would be just wonderful.

altho there is a stickler of a consideration. In order to take an AoO you need the threated the square, which means either whacking your buddy with a sword or using a HR version of Imp Unarmed Combat that allows you to threaten unarmed...

By RAW, is it permited to send someone to the ceiling or up into the air [targeting empty space]? or do HAVE to TK someone against a object, wall, or creature?

a 5' square could be a target, so yes, I think you could target a spot on a ceiling, or a spot of air over a cliff.

If you see an enemy whipping past and you have your sword out, you'd probably take a swipe by reflex if nothing else. Hence AoO.

I'd say you could throw them up, down, left, right, off a cliff, whatever you wanted. Apply flying rules to up and down though, like 1/2 speed up, 2x down etc.
