Price vs. performance
In this wonderful country of ours called 'Oz', numerous states have legalized prostitution, or as the Sex Worker Union (yes... a union of prostitutes... I wonder if that's like a gaggle of geese...) would prefer we say, Brothels.
Now... in an effort to be helpful, I'm going to provide a little insight however as much as I would like to be known as a sex-fiend, the fact is is that I've never been, so this is all second hand knowledge. Ironically, I'm betting no-one will believe that...
From what I've been told, the price is set by performance and time. Either a specific act is paid for or a time is alloted, anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour. Some of the more prestigious places, I've heard tell, hire out women for the night. Different agencies have different policies. Some come to your home and are accompanied by a big, beefy, bouncer (there's a term for them but I forget what it's called) who waits outside and listens for screams. Of course, they're trained to discern the difference between screams of pleasure and pain...
Most, however, have their own premises and conduct all business there.
There are some that are quite prestigious and who hire out only the best looking and highest skilled women. Sums of $5,000 a night are not uncommon. In one case, there was a famous rugby player here who fell in love with one of the women and paid $10,000 per day to 'keep' her.
Prices are usually more realistic, however. I've heard that $50 is a standard for a specific 'act' and $200 for a half hour (or hour, I can't remember) is about the average.
Oh, and the predominant background of sex workers in Victoria is, apparently, university student.
Hope this helps.
