Garrit Kelspire, Paladin 1 of Hyrag

After seeing the goblin go limp, Garrit immiediately examines the goblin. When he confirms its death, Garrit says, "You did not have to kill it, Luthiel. I know it was evil, but killing a helpless defender is dishonorable. Please do not do that again." He makes the last statement sound more like a commanding warning than a request.

...this goblin-creature-thing is dead to the world, for now at least.
OOC: Dungannon is correct, the goblin isn't dead, just a vegetable. =P

As time passes by, the goblin-thing's life signs grow stronger, though it does not awaken. By the time Luthiel and company reach the clearing, the creature seems to be in more of a deep slumber than a coma.

Luthiel Faradar Elven Rogue1

Luthiel sets to work immediately upon reaching the goblins' camping area, putting the goblin in a cot and attempting to make it comfortable. "I still need to cultivate this thing's friendship for a little longer" he says when his task is complete. "What do you make of the situation now, Devlin?"

OOG: I'd like to do a roll-call, if you please. Cryndo is gone for good, I believe. All who are still paying attention, please make some kind of post, IC or OOC, I don't care.

Cryndo helps Luthiel and attempts to heal the goblin-thing as best he can. His efforts are somewhat rewarded as the creature's eyes flutter a tiny bit and it seems almost on the brink of awakening.

OOC: I'm around. FWIW, I feel like we're spinning our wheels a bit. I can't think of anything to do. Maybe we could get some help to get us going again?

IC:

After seeing that the goblin is indeed alive, Garrit offers his apologies to Luthiel.

Malen, Dwarf Wiz1

Malen positions himself behind Luthiel, shouldering his truncheon. "This one's useless. I still say we brain 'im and work over the other one when it wakes up."

Devlin Magruder, human rogue 3

"Well, the wizard in the tower won't be any help. Seems he has two moods, dopey & grumpy. Maybe we should just settle down for the night and see if we can't locate this so-called 'master' in the morning."

"All those signs we passed, y'know, the 'Beware of beasts' ones, right? Well, see, this land here is infested with baddies, not just dangerous animals, either. My master, he says... what does he say? He says that... 'Evil... corrupted...' yeah, 'Evil corrupted the creatures of the forest.' So yeah, the woods here, they're real dangerous for normal folk. Not my master, oh no, he just blasts 'em away with... fire... and ice and... stuff. Y'know, wizard stuff? They don't come into this clearing, he's so strong. But he isn't one to leave his tower, too many investments, he says."

He pauses and then turns slowly about, he points at the woods surrounding the clearing. "See all around here? That's where they live. There are other clearings, like this one, y'know, only smaller, there are trails and things, but y'know, it's a forest so they're not cobbled roads or anything. But yes, there are creatures out there, natural and unnatural, I've seen both, more than once, I can tell you that, oh boy, they're scary. And, well, your task is to... well... kill them. Hunt them and kill them. Or drive them away and make them never come back."

He looks down. "And you have to bring back... proof. Proof that you completed the test. Not that I think you're lying or anything, it's just that, my master... he... doesn't trust people, y'know how wizards are sometimes? Anyway, you just kill the evil creatures and that way he can tell if you're prepared enough to go all the way to the... the grave, er, crypt thing. Right? Sounds fair, right? I think so, I sure do. Can't just go sending people off to die, right? Have to make sure they're prepared, right? I'm sure you sirs are, oh yes, quite sure, but better safe than dead, right? So, that's it. You have three days, he says. Three days to clear them all out, or at least, most of them, so they aren't so annoying or... threatening, and dangerous, okay?"

OOC: If you're stuck or feel that things aren't making sense, perhaps you simply haven't found all (or enough) of the clues yet.
